@DrSJaishankar says no country wants Bangladeshโs welfare more than India. But real friendship doesnโt come with border killings, dried-up rivers, barbed wire fences and propping up fascist regimes. Time to break free from this illusion of Indian โgoodwill.โ
In the BJP-ruled Indian state of Uttarakhand, 15 places with #Muslim-sounding names would be changed soon, the local government announced this week. Aurangzebpur, a town named after the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, would be renamed Shivaji Nagar, after #Hindu warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji.
#Indiaโs Hindu right-wing groups have for years been erasing the countryโs Muslimness as much as possible. Allahabad has already been changed to Prayagraj.
In #Bangladesh, there are hundreds of places with Hindu names given by Hindu kings and zemindars centuries ago. No group has ever sought to change the name of Rampur to Alipur in Bangladesh. Not even any Islamic group has ever raised any demand to change the Hindu names of the places, even though this is a Muslim-majority country.
Yet, India says, Hindus are facing persecution in Bangladesh. Ridiculous!
