Some #GoodNews: @KidsHelpPhone is offering phone counselling in Arabic via interpreters. Young people can now call 1-800-668-6868 and select option 3 to connect to a counsellor via an Arabic-speaking interpreter. More info at https://t.co/fRhn8sRVLD
@seguincbc So valuable for us as a community to make space for the voices of these articulate young women. I so appreciated hearing their perspective and recommendations about creating meaningful change this morning.
Multiple folks in the Twitterverse commenting on their mood this morning. Cranky? Stressed? Totally normal reactions to an abnormal #COVID19 holiday season! Check out @redcrosscanada guide to coping w/ a health emergency during the holidays https://t.co/9mMhiJsHXk #mentalhealth
Delighted to attend today's #MHForAll webinar. Great point by @russells70 that instead of labelling people's needs as complex, we define our systems as complex. This promotes thinking about systems change to increase accessibility of #mentalhealth services
Listening to university students on @TheCurrentCBC who are seeking tuition cuts now that courses are online. Just finished a distance ed degree and wanted to chime in that in my program tuition was higher for distance students than oncampus peers for the same courses due to fees
@ToddLeader1 @CASW_ACTS That's so generous. I would greatly appreciate a copy so I can learn more! Twitter won't allow me to DM you but believe you should be able to DM me.
1 upside of #covid19 suspending my BSW field placement: my self-directed remote learning includes @CASW_ACTS's webinar series feat @ToddLeader1 on creating a client-centered #mentalhealth system. So timely! #Grateful
BTW @CASW_ACTS has made all webinars in their library free and accessible during this time. Check em out https://t.co/Ep61JZ0tgf #keeplearning#keepgrowing
During the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, Indigenous people in Canada were 6.5 times as likely to end up in the ICU. Now with #COVID19, African-Americans in NYC are dying at twice the rate of their white peers.
Don't tell me that pandemics impact 'all people equally'.
Race matters.
Skylar was a @RootsofEmpathy teacher this year at Priestman Street Elementary School in #Fredericton. She was missing all her students so we decided to record a little update! @ASD_West
Had a second interview for a government job.
I got asked a question in French.
Said I didn’t know how to speak French. Then I got asked why I put “Yes” in the box stating if I was bilingual.
Told them I spoke English and Oji-Cree.
The interviewers sat in silence.
