@My0P1N10N@Don_inFarrhaven Nope. Was always cheap, and especially after he lost big chunks of his net worth.
The point isn’t that he wasn’t being a selfish dick as he was painted at the time. The point is that in retrospect everything that touched Melnyk should be viewed with more nuance.
@My0P1N10N@Don_inFarrhaven Maybe? But if you had a terrible cheapskate owner your reasons for wanting out don’t really matter. Brady situation is different.
@SanderGoat85@JFreshHockey Let’s say we get Risto and MacTavish and lose Spence. I’m not sure that moves the needle much. Would be just as happy if they extend Spence.
@SanderGoat85@JFreshHockey Yeah, older ones. '21, '22, '23 all show him with like < 20% WAR. Frequent mocking of any team interested in him. What changed?
@702Call@politicstcan I have some faith but these reports worry me that he might do something kneejerk and dumb, break up the team’s greatest strength (the D).
@politicstcan I had the same thought. In truth though, there were 4-5 reasonable choices here. Such a complete team effort that no one player stood out. I’m okay with the sentimental choice in this case.
@themjonz27@SanderGoat85 He’s one of their best defenders and should be used to kill penalties. The only reason people say he’s not a top-4 D is because he’s 2 inches too short
