Northern Cape on the move...
Alongside Premier Oscar Mabuyane of the Eastern Cape and Minister of Electricity and Energy Dr. Kgosientsho Ramokgopa we inaugurated the Envusa Energy's Koruson 2 project. This joint venture between Anglo American and EDF Power Solutions signifies a monumental investment of R15 billion, positioning Koruson 2 as the second largest electricity generator in South Africa and the SADC region after Eskom. It is distinguished as one of the country's largest private-sector renewable energy projects.
The initiative has yielded significant benefits, including over 2,000 jobs created and R73 million allocated to local SMMEs and socio-economic development programs. These efforts bolster local capacity and promise enduring opportunities. This investment contributes meaningfully to the Province's ambitious goal of reaching a R200 billion GDP and creating 60,000 new jobs by 2030.

The investment summit has culminated in an extraordinary achievement, securing R105 billion in investment pledges from eleven major companies, with a projected creation of approximately 19 800 jobs. These verified pledges come from companies with an established and significant presence in the province, mainly in mining, renewable energy, agriculture and agro-processing. This signals a robust foundation for economic growth in the Northern Cape. We welcome this enthusiastic response and reaffirm our commitment to collaborative efforts with the private sector for economic growth, striving towards our 2030 targets of a R200 billion GDP and 60,000 new and sustainable jobs.
