@Aland_a3@unclebobmartin@NK_Halama definitely. In my case, I learned non-OO first, then thought OO was "the way" for a while (due to reading books by ivory tower people), then I realized that no, you can make functional, easy-to-understand, performant programs without forcing it on everything.
@vkrajacic@dkharms_ I and my non-technical girlfriend noticed the difference right away. I have known many non-technical people who have complained to me about broken applications, slow applications, etc... The people trying to justify crap software below can shove their investors up their butt.
@vkrajacic@dkharms_ This is 100% accurate. Seriously, don't listen to the naysayers here. I can tell you right now that while a layperson may not care about the best performance in Gmail, it's because they don't have an alternative. FilePilot far exceeds Explorer, and you are 1 man.

@HackingDave This trade is good, but it's not worth your health. Put another way - you can be even more helpful if you're around and able longer. Cramming those 12 hr days and not taking care of yourself means that you are actually limiting your ability to be effective long term.
@HackingDave I realize now that apparently I am in the ultra-minority for having physical health under control AND technical computer skills. Regardless, kudos to you on your own transformation, and I really truly like that you are putting this out there to hopefully help others.
@HackingDave Tbh I've found it unbelievable how common it is for folks in our industry to completely neglect their health or just be so uneducated about it. When I was like 19, I got obsessed with nutrition and exercise similar to how I did with reverse engineering.
@cmuratori We don't want to have to trust the company to simply not do something, we want them to be UNABLE to do that thing. Similar to how FBI subpoena against Signal resulted in Signal being UNABLE to furnish anything except time of account creation and phone number.
@cmuratori I agree. This is why the only way to prevent this is for the platform itself to be specifically designed at a technical level to make censorship extremely hard or impossible. I've been coming up with a few ideas. It's doable with software, but requires a paradigm shift.
@cmuratori just watched your latest vid. Re the first 15 mins, you may like mlock() on linux which locks pages in RAM immediately. https://t.co/Q0lpmiJ7wo . You also may like https://t.co/RFOOxVpXnW . Not saying using mlock for this is good practice, but foran experiment, maybe.
