🚕🤳🚗Innovative solutions like on-demand taxi and PHV services improve #UrbanMobility but are often confronted with ancient rules, harming EU passengers and drivers alike. https://t.co/LUnHzA1uVG #RideHailing
The broad indicators would overwhelm national courts, and undo positive reforms. Platforms together with self-employed drivers will continue working on making the #RideHailing sector an environment which benefits all.

Today’s rejection of the agreement on the #PlatformWork Directive confirms that the current text is not fit for purpose.
A presumption of employment is not what drivers want, as they have stated repeatedly survey after survey, letter after letter, petition after petition.
Drivers want to remain independent, and to be able to run their own business and work across platforms.
More legal uncertainty and litigation is not what Member States want, as evidenced by the clear and large rejection of the proposed compromise.
We're concerned that the threshold to introduce a presumption is based on fulfilling only 2 out of 5 indicators. The indicators laid out, while aiming to classify employment status, do not take into account the nuanced realities that the Council sought to address in its GA.

While acknowledging efforts to address the complexities of platform work, we feel that the agreed-upon provisions fall short of meeting the wishes of platform workers. This provisional agreement fails to fully live up to drivers’ demands and needs.

The unique nature of platform work requires a fresh approach that respects drivers' autonomy, safeguards their rights, and sustains innovation in the platform economy.
Move EU members had a fruitful discussion with @ChaNorMat from @AdinaValean's cabinet about the role #RideHailing can play in achieving the green & digital transition of #UrbanMobility. 🚕 🚗
Today, the @Europarl_EN switched to another gear by recognising:
💡that #RideHailing complements traditional public transport, and its potential in cutting emissions, improving air quality, reducing noise & congestion and enhancing connectivity with suburban and peri-urban areas
We count on the European Parliament and European Commission to take this into account in future actions on #UrbanMobility and are ready to engage with stakeholders to provide insights from the ride-hailing sector.

The EMPL position on the #PlatformWork Directive instead will have a negative impact on working conditions by triggering mass reclassification. Move EU calls on MEPs to reject the mandate to enter trilogues and to improve the EP position.
Move EU welcomes the sectoral bargaining agreement signed today in #France between drivers’ unions and ride-hailing platforms’ associations. The first of more negotiations guarantees drivers a minimum net revenue per ride regardless of the platform they are using.
Today’s agreement shows that social dialogue is an effective way forward to ensure better working conditions while taking into account the interests of drivers.
