3. Stay hydrated - fill your water bottle with ice before you leave & hydrate before, during, & after riding.

5. Wear sunscreen!
For this #TrafficSafetyTuesday let’s talk about how to beat the heat when biking! It’s important to find ways to stay cool to avoid overheating and experiencing heat exhaustion or a heat stroke. Here are some tips to stay cool and protect yourself from the sun while biking.
1. Check the temp - if it's warmer than usual, bike slower & try to avoid long periods of exposure to direct sunlight.
2. Act fast when overheating - find shade, drink ice water & apply ice to your hands, feet & back of your neck. Seek medical assistance if you can't cool down.
This is such great news for our youth and young adults in New Orleans! Let's stay involved and make sure we have a successful rollout of this pilot program.
Thank you, @RideNewOrleans for your advocacy work on this issue!
