Terrible News for Russian Orcas: The Pacific Fisheries Research Center (TINRO), who view orcas as a fishery resource, has proposed to allow the capture of 13 orcas in 2018. A public hearing will be held in Vladivostok on May 3rd to discuss this proposal. #Blackfish

Incredible drone video of a Gray Whale protecting her calf from an attack by the CA140s (Emma's Group) this week in Monterey Bay. To stop the Orcas from drowning her calf, the mother actually lifts her 7-tonne baby completely out of the water! The huge orca bull is Liner (CA163).
