@o_reachtaire Criminally under-promoted when first released. Kitchenware and CBS didn’t know what to do with them. The recent Prefab Sprout book is excellent.

@Elise_Bergeron1 🛑 Stealing Kris DeVos’ content. Naughty

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@untypicalboro He was managing the German Olympic team at the start of WWI and was interned in Ruhleben with Steve Bloomer and a few other Boro alumni. He was there for the duration.

@PGaillimh I was a ballboy at the 1976 game!
Genuinely scary for a 10 year-old.

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@Samtyler75 @DanielJHannan You my friend, have a very selective grasp of history. Ireland stopped being Britain’s victim a century ago. And Britain responded with, ironically, tariffs!
But we still recognize a bully, even one so diminished, it can only punch down.

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@Samtyler75 @DanielJHannan And what has right-wing ideology really done for modern Britain? Other than continue to perpetuate, empower and enrich an Oxford-undereducated cohort?

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@Samtyler75 @DanielJHannan The Irish have live through, rather than off, oppression. And it has given us a keen eye and thorough dislike for oppression in all its forms. Nothing to do with ideology, just experience.

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@Samtyler75 @DanielJHannan There is plenty of sectarian unrest in your country that has nothing to do with the Irish. I would venture that Britain wrote the book for creating sectarian unrest and indeed, was itself the quintessential parasite state in the exploitation of its “empire”.

This message from Tony Mowbray is as lovely as it is important.

He’s always struck me as one of the most likeable and humble people in the game; hopefully he’s back working soon. ❤️

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@juliancanny That’s basically the format of the new tournament mooted for 2026, with the six nations, SANZAA, and two invited teams, with promotion and relegation and a qualifying tournament for the tier 2 teams.

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@rugbyworldcup @IrishRugby Le Monde have listed him as New Zealand! 😁

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@paulrowantree The NE of England? Alex Murphy?

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@DammitMarty @morganobrienart @museumofjerseys Has Castore got too big too fast?

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@morganobrienart I’ll bow to your superior design nous but personally, I was never a fan of Umbro. I loved the shirt designs of my youth - the 80’s designs from O’Neills and Adidas.

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@TomKilfeather @o_reachtaire @mccannconj Failed a preseason trial at Boro(!) at the twilight of his career. I was disappointed for both parties that it didn’t happen.

[John Gannon @moycullenjohn]

@tomhappens The Thorns - the edition with the acoustic versions.
