Gives me goosebumps each time I help an international collab lift up:
A Colombian software studio is hiring for a part-time sales partner from the US or CA.
💯 Outcome-based Comp: Founder pays per qualified demo plus 10% recurring rev share for the life of each engagement.
@ridark_eth The real story here isn't the tool. It's the death of the monthly agency retainer. Buyers are awake to the fact that delivery has collapsed to hours, not weeks. So why still persist on the monthly pay? Agency owners, please start pricing the deliverable.
This applies to every service a startup buys. Want to build the collab out like two partners would? Split the deliverables out, attach payment to each one landing, and suddenly the incentives point the same direction for both.
founders assume the retainer is buying output. posts, threads, KOL slots, a report at the end of the month.
what you're actually paying for breaks down closer to this:
> strategy and positioning work that happens before anything gets published
>actual content production and campaign execution
>relationship access. KOLs, narrative outlets, listing conversations. the part you can't build in 90 days
>coordination overhead. calls, revisions, the back-and-forth of getting a founder to approve things
the reason agencies don't publish this is that once you see the split, you can ask whether you're paying for the part that's actually scarce.
ask your agency for that breakdown and watch what happens.

@nataliecdawson Why does it have to be a hire at all? The moment you need someone in sales, ops, or marketing, you can scope the outcome and structure an interim/fractional deal. No hire until the skill/time gap justifies for a full-time commitment. Food for thought.

Somebody must warn them the outcomes to justify the bill will follow months later.
++ There's one more reason to why we avoid our financials. The numbers reflect commitments we made before knowing if the spend would work. Agencies, consultants and half a dozen SaaS subscriptions across functions.
Pay on results, not on time. Your P&L starts looking a lot less scary.
10 Finance Claude Prompts I run every quarter across our portfolio:
Save this. Most founders avoid their numbers until they can't.
1/ P&L Review
"You're a fractional CFO with 20+ years of experience. Here's our P&L for the last 12 months [paste]. Tell me what's healthy, what's concerning, and the 3 line items I should investigate before next month closes."
2/ Cash Flow Forecast
"Here's our last 6 months of cash in and cash out [paste]. Build me a 90-day rolling cash flow forecast. Flag the weeks where we're tight and tell me what to cut or collect first."
3/ Expense Audit
"Here's our full expense list for the last quarter [paste]. Categorize each one as essential, growth-driving, or fat. Rank the top 10 cuts I could make without hurting the business."
4/ Pricing Review
"Here's our pricing structure and our last 50 deals [paste]. Tell me where we're underpriced, where we're leaving money on the table, and 3 specific changes I could test next quarter."
5/ KPI Dashboard
"Build me a one-page financial dashboard for a [industry] business doing $[X]M in revenue. Include the 8 KPIs I should review every Monday. Tell me what good, average, and bad looks like for each."
6/ Owner Pay Analysis
"Here's my owner compensation, distributions, and personal expenses run through the business [paste]. Tell me if I'm paying myself correctly, what should be cleaned up, and what a CPA or buyer would flag."
7/ Margin Breakdown
"Here's our revenue and direct costs by product or service [paste]. Calculate gross margin for each. Show me which offers are dragging down the average and which ones I should push harder."
8/ Tax Prep Checklist
"Build a tax prep checklist for a [entity type] business doing $[X]M in revenue. Include documents to gather, deductions most founders miss, and the 5 questions I should ask my CPA this year."
9/ Budget vs. Actuals
"Here's our budget and actual spend for the last quarter [paste]. Show me the biggest variances, tell me which ones are red flags vs. just timing, and what I should adjust in next quarter's budget."
10/ Hiring ROI Check
"Here's the cost of each hire I'm considering and the revenue I expect them to generate or unlock [paste]. Calculate the payback period for each. Tell me which hire to prioritize and which one to delay."
The prompts are only half of it.
Clean numbers don't grow a business.
But messy numbers will quietly sink one.
Most of the founders I know who hit a wall didn't see it in their bank account first.
They saw it in a P&L they'd been ignoring for 6 months.
Look at your numbers monthly. Not when something breaks.
Which prompt are you running first?
♻️ Repost if you know a founder who needs to spend more time in their books.

#5 and #1 are secretly the same skill. When you outsource on milestone terms and tie payment to deliverables (currently we are billed mostly for time), you've just stretched your dollars AND solved when to outsource in one move.
7 skills you must learn as a founder:
1. Knowing when to outsource
2. Knowing when to hire someone smarter or better than you
3. Finding what you're good at and focusing on it
4. How to negotiate to get a better deal
5. How to get terms to stretch out your dollars
6. Understanding your cash flow
7. Selling your dream and vision
