Strengthening Economic Cooperation
On the second day of his historic visit to Israel, President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), held a productive meeting with Israel’s Minister of Finance, H.E. Bezalel Smotrich.
The meeting was attended by the Governor of the Bank of Somaliland, who is a member of the delegation accompanying the President of the Republic of Somaliland.
Discussions focused on expanding economic and financial cooperation, promoting investment and trade, enhancing access to international financial markets, and advancing collaboration in agriculture, water, energy, and modern technology.
The two sides also explored mechanisms and financial guarantees to support large-scale development projects aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth.
These high-level engagements reflect a new chapter in the growing partnership between Somaliland and Israel, with shared interests in economic development, innovation, security, and social progress.

"No one will decide for Israel - and no one will decide for Somaliland - who we conduct diplomatic relations with."
🇮🇱 Foreign Minister @gidonsaar, alongside Somaliland President @Abdirahmanirro at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Jerusalem.
Prez @Abdirahmanirro of Rep of Somaliland forcefully rebuked Somalia’s president for weaponizing religious rhetoric in a political dispute, stressing that faith and the sacred Shahada must never be exploited to pressure or undermine Somaliland’s sovereign political decisions.
I was delighted to receive the first-ever Ambassador of Somaliland to Israel, Mohamed Hagi, who presented his diplomatic credentials this morning.
Ambassador Hagi was kind enough to praise our orchestra, who played the national anthem of Somaliland for the first time ever in Israel.
This important new partnership
between our nations will bring a shared future of cooperation in a range of fields to the benefit of both our peoples and the entire region.
