Laikipia Needs a Vision Beyond Politics

For far too long, Laikipia’s progress has been at the mercy of political transitions. One governor starts a transformative project; the next one scraps it. Roads are left unfinished, irrigation schemes stall, and industries never take off. Meanwhile, our people continue to struggle, not because of a lack of ideas, but because of a lack of continuity.

This must stop.

It is time for Laikipians leaders, citizens, and stakeholders to rise above politics and craft a long-term blueprint that outlives individual ambitions. Laikipia Vision 2050 should be our commitment to the future, a binding charter passed by the County Assembly to ensure that every leader, regardless of party or ideology, follows through on a shared development agenda.

Imagine a thriving Rumuruti, no longer a dusty town but an agricultural-industrial hub feeding the nation. Picture Doldol as a modern metropolis, buzzing with commerce and opportunity. Visualize Laikipia’s tourism circuit, not as an afterthought, but as a world-class attraction drawing millions. Think of 300,000 acres under irrigation, powered by megadams, making food insecurity a thing of the past. Envision a mining industry that creates wealth for our people instead of leaving them in perpetual poverty.

This is not a dream,it is possible. But only if we stop thinking in five-year election cycles and start planning for the next 25 years. It is time to put Laikipia first.

The question is: Will we rise to the occasion, or will we let another generation suffer because of our political short-sightedness? The future is calling. Let’s answer.

MPs are so silent on the matter of Nduta in Vietnam.

The reason of the silence is fear that they would be ousted frm parliamentary committees.

No Ps or CS has indipendently spoken.
