An election contest would require hiring an election attorney and incurring substantial amounts of legal fees.

An election contest is a complaint filed with the court alleging that the official tally of the votes is incorrect. Evidence of errors would have to be presented and a case would need to be made to attempt to change the vote total certified by the Clerk. (4/?)

Once results are certified, any registered voter can request discovery recount, an opportunity (at $10/precinct) to have votes in 25% of precincts re-counted. Results of the discovery recount will not change the official tally but can become grounds for an election contest. (3/?)

Yesterday April 16th was the last day the Clerk accepted mail in ballots. From now until April 23rd the Clerk will do a 5% of precincts re-tabulation, correct any issues that are uncovered and certify the result of the Election on April 23rd.

In what I suspect is as an intentional attempt to mess with my mental stability (kidding), the Cook County Clerk has not updated the vote totals since Friday of last week. I am currently 2 votes behind R. Rogers (2548 to 2550).

Hi, everyone! Election results remain unchanged at 2548 for me & 2549 for Rogers. Cook Co. Clerk says not to expect further updates to online tally until Tues, April 16. The Clerk will stop accepting mail in ballots after that date and will certify the result on April 23rd (1/3)

There is no change of vote coun,
still behind by 4 votes. Outstanding mail-in ballots may make it to Cook County clerk & change the vote total. They stop counting mail in ballots 4/16. Election results will be certified 4/23. Please continue to keep your fingers & toes crossed!
