Very proud of Melania! Her book is out Nationally, and for sale EVERYWHERE. It is really great! She was a fantastic First Lady, and shares that experience, and much more. She’s also a really good writer, as she showed at the Republican National Convention with her letter, that turned out to be a sensational highlight. Perfect for Christmas. Get it NOW, and ENJOY!
Congratulations to @KarenKeaveney and the rest of the @ICLRD_Org research team who today launched the InPlace report - Investigating Planning, Placemaking and Commuting.

Billy Matandara Mlonda, RD, holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dietetics (2023) and a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition and Food Science (2021), both from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR). His dietetic training included clinical placements at Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, and Tshepong Hospitals in South Africa, as well as Kamuzu Central Hospital in Malawi. He is one of Malawi’s few Registered Dietitians (RDs), proudly trained under LUANAR’s dietetics program.
Billy began his professional career as a nutrition intern with the Salima District Council from 2021 to 2022. In 2024, he joined LUANAR’s USAID N4H activity as a Food Composition Data Intern, contributing to the important task of updating the Malawi Food Composition Table, a key resource in improving dietary guidelines and public health initiatives in the country.
Currently, Billy is a Program Officer at the Civil Society Organisation Nutrition Alliance (CSONA), where he focuses on advocacy for improved nutrition policies and practices. His work spans nutrition advocacy, lobbying for resources towards nutrition initiatives, and the establishment of a dietetics cadre in district hospitals.
Reflecting on his journey, Billy attributes his success to the comprehensive education and guidance he received from LUANAR. “The knowledge and expertise I gained from LUANAR have been instrumental in shaping my career and fueling my passion for reducing hospital malnutrition, promoting public health, and engaging communities in nutrition and food security efforts,” he says. “Being open to various possibilities and letting God lead has allowed me to embrace new challenges and apply the skills and resilience I have developed along the way.”
Billy encourages current LUANAR students to stay curious and proactive in their learning: “Your academic journey is just the beginning. Take every opportunity to grow, apply what you have learned, and remain adaptable—because that is what will help you make an impact.”
With experience spanning nutrition advocacy, clinical dietetics, and food composition research, Billy remains committed to contributing to Malawi’s nutritional outcomes and advancing toward a healthier nation.
