On July 4th, 2022, a protester tried to interrupt the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. Joey Chestnut, mid-hot dog inhale, immediately put him in a headlock and then went right back to eating. He still won the contest that year. Legend.
Per the rules, holding a player back while trying to score IN THE BOX especially, is a RED CARD! And an automatic PK!!!
Why wasn’t this called?
Consistency eases anger!
It is unbelievable to me that this wasn’t a red card + penalty kick
Balogun was completely obstructed here and still hit the crossbar
He earned two PKs that weren’t called
This didn’t get VAR but an irrelevant midfield tangle led to a red card
Unreal
After sleeping on it, I find it even more absurd that *intent* gets no analysis after a red card where a next game suspension is also attached to the penalty.
"ThAt'S hOw It'S aLwAyS bEen."
Then soccer has had an egregiously dumb rule and is even dumber for not fixing it.
For anyone new around here…
12 years ago we player Belgium in the Round of 16 & Chris Wondolowski missed a sitter to win in the 92nd and I haven’t stopped thinking about it…
We go on to lose in extra time.
We need revenge 🇺🇸🇧🇪
@retardrepost@ethanagarwal My crazy suggestions for injuries is once a player is being treated by medical personnel for 1 minute they must come off the field but are replaced with a temporary sub. The injured player then has 5 minutes to be ready to return or burn the substitution.
@retardrepost@ethanagarwal Soccer could definitely be optimized but ai must admit, if these were your top 3 I can see the where the dismissiveness comes from.
Offside needs improved but you won’t get buy in for a one time passer, you may get it for no offsides in the box.
Balogun has a defender come up from behind him and they collide, he’s trying to land, he can’t even see the guy because he’s literally behind his shoulder
And because he happens to land on his ankle it’s a red
It’s just absurd
Today we aren’t Kentucky and Louisville fans, Duke and Carolina, Michigan and Ohio State, or even Red Sox and Yankees…
We are all locked in at 8 p.m. on USA Soccer 🇺🇸
One of my fav long running CFB bits is how Mizzou does nothing to deserve being ranked, doesn't beat a single good team every year, and yet always starts and ends the year #23.
It's like clockwork, it's actually magical to observe
My official opinion of our world cup:
Lose to Bosnia: abject failure
Lose in r.o. 16: bare minimum, disappointing
Lose in QF (to Spain/Portugal): success
Lose in Semi final: unbelievable sucess
Lose final: Unreal
Win: pic of Poch in my living room 4 life
