Four years ago when there were two incidents of cars hitting houses within a week, I reached out to the NCDOT who said absolutely nothing could be done. They claimed there was no way to slow traffic on a neighborhood street, which is complete bullshit.

We are working to transition my aunt to long-term care. A retired public kindergarten teacher, her pension is too high to qualify for Medicaid and too low to pay for care. It’s a catch-22 that older people, especially those with a life time of public service, don’t deserve.

I once taught a memoir writing class for junior high girls (age 12-14). After a girl shared she’d been harassed by adult men I asked how many others had been harassed by adult men and more than half had. When I asked how many had been harassed by boys their age 100% had.

Reporting from Bakersville,Mitchell county we @wckitchen landed to provide meals to @Bakersville to the city and @NationalGuard doing amazing work, and even under the circumstances and damage that their city and county had...they have water, food, medicines @fema support...etc...a community coming together. This is what I see all over...Let' do this!
