.@WSOnlineNews It has been brought to my attention that the Western Standard misleads Albertans that I have agreed to a debate and they are attempting to raise money for that event.
Let me clear. #ForeverCanadian declined to partake, ever, in any debates with WS.

BREAKING:
Water not Coal (aka Corb Lund's petition) says it has reached the signatures required under the citizen intiative act.
If signatures are counted and approved, it would theoretically lead to an 11th referendum question in Alberta this fall.
@kevmart1979@Capribxdo@CTVVancouver Appears that a number have been arrested and charged for burning and or vandalizing Christian places of worship https://t.co/Fz9qcCnCsq
According to social media posts, Amrit Birring has been charged with mischief over $5000 [s 430(3) of the CCC] over the weekend for defacing a Pride crosswalk in Surrey on May 30 as a protest against anti-2SLGBTQIA+ people. He is required to appear in court on July 28.
@Kona1951@CoJoHendo@nenshi Electronic tabulators (that scan printed ballot that can be audited later) have been found to produce fewer errors than hand counting in a number of studies. I think it comes down to whether one can accept (or not) that technology is part of the process.
@Kona1951@CoJoHendo@nenshi I have worked many federal(CDN), provincial(AB) and muni(YYC) elections as a Registration Officer and Deputy Returning Officer. Have been part of the counting team in each - except for YYC elections prior to 2024 that used electronic tabulators to scan paper ballots at ballot box
@Kona1951@CoJoHendo@nenshi Personally, I have no real issue with electronic reading of paper ballots as long as there is a paper ballot retained for each vote cast (so paper ballots can still be audited if there is a problem). I'm more confident the computer (with OMR)would get it right compared to humans.
@CoJoHendo@nenshi As well with one large form it is probbaly harder to keep track of all the skipped questions. Probably less error prone individually.
@CoJoHendo@nenshi As someone who has had to do hand counts at a number of elections(I have worked many fed, pro, muni elections with hand counts) my guess is that it is easier to hand count separate ballots (as there will also be a ballot box for each question) and probably less chance of spoilage
@CoJoHendo@nenshi It should be noted that census forms (unlike hand counted ballots) are electronically scanned and things like OCR and AI are used to convert the infomation to a digital format.
@CoJoHendo@nenshi Because each question is on a separate ballot. This is also the reason they need so many counters as they have to (by law) have unofficial counts done in a short period of time.
@ibrenlaw@hollyanndoan@ElectionsCan_E@liberal_party As for 14 year olds voting, how many have voted in a municipal, provincial or federal election? Or are you referring to party leadership races?
Full disclosure: I have worked as a Registration Officer and DRO for federal(Canada), provincial(AB), and municipal(YYC) elections.
@ibrenlaw@hollyanndoan@ElectionsCan_E@liberal_party Interesting because other forms of ID (when a person lacks photo ID) are very similar to what is allowed in Alberta during provincial and muncipal elections. Alberta is a conservative leaning province. Are UCP using these great ideas to win at all costs alongside gerrymandering?
Our welding company is proud to be sponsoring Peace River Pride's coffee meetups. At a time when too many other companies are stepping back out of fear of rising hate, we feel it's important to once again step up for our community.
Happy Pride! ☕️🌈🏳️⚧️
It’s pretty much impossible to overstate the contributions that @JSJamato has made to journalism in Alberta.
But if he’s stepping up for Alberta and Canada, what ever comes next can only be more impactful.
Thanks for everything you’ve done so far!

Random people on the internet:
“Doctors should stay out of politics.”
Okay……
Then politicians should stop pretending to practice medicine and making healthcare decisions that could harm people.
Full stop.
@wildrose76 I won a nice insulated poncho a few months ago. Didn't think I'd ever have a use for it until yesterday. Almost destroyed an umbrella. Today I used the poncho and it worked great!
