Two criminals in KwaMashu were arrested for running a business selling doctor’s notes instead of treating patients.

For years, workers who wanted time off could allegedly pay them about R100 and walk away with a medical certificate. The clever part of the scam was that the sick notes carried the names and contact details of real doctors, so when employers checked, everything appeared genuine.

The operation reportedly went on for years before police finally caught up with them. Instead of helping sick people, they were helping healthy people get out of work with fake medical certificates.

That’s why they’re now facing serious trouble with the law.
