@CelticsGRD There is clearly a belief that PG at lower usage/increased opportunity for others can potentially replace JB's impact ALONGSIDE a healthy JT, while allowing them to retain key players. If you're moving on, you don't wait. His value decreases every minute closer to his extension.
@CelticsGRD I honestly think he said more than he had to, while still being respectful/appreciative of Jaylen. Why not Jaylen? Answered with his 42% to 70% of cap discourse. Why now? Answered with his 'usage' comments w/o tearing down JB & acknowledged analytics played a role in trade.
@AdamMKaufman Brad Stevens essentially said this in his presser yesterday. The financial impact of a π after a drought is massive. The impact of a 2nd near term has diminished utility, ESPECIALLY for a team like the C's that do not own the arena, mitigating revenue from a deep playoff run.
@AdamMKaufman The owner can say all the right things (not saying he did yesterday, but he said what owners say), but his job is to maximize value & ROI. An additional championship near term attached to a 2nd apron, repeater tax roster is less valuable for C's than being good and under the tax.
@HPbasketball What I think has been generally lost in all the conversation is how interesting this dynamic becomes in Philly. His usage will likely decline and could be the 1C in Philly with Maxey bringing up the ball and the offense generally running through Joel.
@HPbasketball My stance with JB's situation has been that its a lose-lose for the C's for some time.
You don't trade him, there is the general friction/noise that he wants to be a clear alpha, plus cap stuff.
You do trade him, he puts his head down and works harder to prove everyone wrong.
@celticslife Even if you give them all the draft capital except one FRP and PG, i think the Celtics fan base feels a lot better about Murphy, a player above, and a FRP for JB than the package as it sits today.
@celticslife Yes and no, it depends what NOP covets from the trade. Murphy is still the perfect fit for the TPE which is important. They could swap PG and/or Hauser and take back Murphy plus the Poole, Murray, or Zion contract. Murphy goes into the Simons TPE and they create a new one.
@celticsblog If, in the wake of a trade, it comes out that Chisholm told Brad that he would do one 35% extension but not two, and that he valued being very good long term vs an 'in the mix' contender in the years before the extensions crippled their flexibility, wouldn't it all make sense?
@KeithSmithNBA *taking my salary cap implications hat off and putting my fan hat on*
Do you think Reid could move elsewhere if CHA is planning to become the OKC of the East? Brad could offer FRPs and take into Simons TPE, right?!? π
@bflay can you please send me all the Dallas seasoning you have now that it's off the menu? My wife is devastated and I'm trying to start Christmas shopping
@RyanCaraveo if the setlist that was posted on setlist fm from Albuquerque last night sticks for the tour then this is going to be the best show I've ever seen. So deep and so many tracks across the catalog. Already booked for NYC & Pittsburgh, hoping to add at least one more!!
@CelticsGRD By declining my tickets next season, I was also subject to an increase for the playoffs and can't select pay as we play, requiring a 50% ($4K+) payment up front. I understand its a business, but I feel like a franchise player that just found out they were traded on twitter. π₯Ί
@CelticsGRD 12 years and it ends with a 60% hike year over year ($5.6kβ‘οΈ$9.2K). With family health challenges and a new job, I have still yet to attend a game this year. Sold the premium games and gave away the cheaper games. They smugly cited my resale value as justification for the hike.
