For the past 7 years my husband has given up his evenings, his Saturday mornings and many hours in between to coach a girls football team. He genuinely cares about every kid he coaches and genuinely wants to help them be the best footballer they can be. His drive has always been to create a fun, happy, family atmosphere where parents and girls all feel welcome, supported and part of one big family and I think he's always achieved this.

People don't see the hours he sits planning and organising things, thinking about the next game, reflecting on the last, worrying about the girl who's injured or planning a fun event for these girls or how to help each individual with their development as well as the team as a whole, trying to make sure everyone is happy.

People also don't see how his own daughter often gets the harshest, honest feedback, how she helps her dad plan, gets up earlier to leave and be there first, how she takes on a huge responsibility to "never put a foot wrong and make a good example" (not easy for a teenager) or how she has to deal with other kids sometimes having a go at her dad and just takes it on the chin. How she often has to do the jobs noone wants as shes coaches kid. She never complains.

People also don't see his youngest daughter who has missed out on her dad watching her play every week for those years because he has to be there for 15 other girls who aren't his, because he made a commitment to those girls and their parents. They don't see how she doesn't complain or make him feel guilty for this, or how mature she is by accepting he's got a job (without pay) to do somewhere else. She never complains.

Noone is perfect in life but these 3 are amazing and I could not be prouder of them. ❤️

Thank you to all coaches, their kids who have to deal with being coaches child and their kids who miss out because their dad coaches another team.
