A few thoughts on biking in Madison.
1. Lots of bike racks, at pretty much every business. They are nice staple racks placed correctly.
2. Cargo bikes are not rare. I've only seen 1 but had two folks stop me at the grocery store to tell me they have them at home.
@IsaacRowlett Having only lived in Madison 4 years, I can’t say I understand it a lot but I have found much more focus on pro housing views than I did in Austin. Lots of people don’t want to pave over farmland and understand that means higher density
@slyarak My current home is in a district with 30’ setbacks! It’s bonkers and I have heard from folks who want to add a porch or even a bay window who can’t because of it. 😖
@RattusFlattus @jerryschippa I help my neighbor out by walking her kid to school every day. I imagine other parents would appreciate a neighborly offer to help them out. 🤷🏻♀️
@cyclesixmile I had my first in Chicago and everyone goes to Prentice. Super fancy granite countertops (?!?!) etc. 8000 babies/yr. I went to hospital 1.5 miles away, could bike/bus there. Great midwives and great experience. Like—what matters is not how fancy the room is but the staff quality
@panndder @JessieSingerNYC @BikeFed Agree with this! Rent a Bcycle and bike along Lake Mendota or Lake Monona. If you like cheese go to Fromagination on the capitol square. They also have good sandwiches. Marigold Kitchen is also super yum!
