The @MPZ_PhysMed had its' official topping-out ceremony yesterday! Bavarian Economic Affairs Minister Hubert Aiwanger visited along with members of @MPI_Light, @UniFAU and Universitätsklinikum Erlangen. We look forward to the next steps in this great cooperation!
Today, Birgit Stiller, together with the directors of the @MPI_Light opened the 4th annual WOMBAT event. On the first day, Gustavo Wiederhecker, Warwick Bowen, Francesca Palumbo and Marc Serra-Garcia started the workshop with tutorials to bring everyone up to speed.
It's barbecue season!
Here at MPL, we don't need a grill or coal for that – we use sunlight. The lens that the team around Hanieh Fattahi used for the barbecue will later be used to supply a laser with energy.

#FAU is strengthening its expertise on #quantum#technology. Christoph Marquardt, currently with @MPI_Light, is now tenured #FAUprof. #FAUcongrats!👏 Christoph did and does exciting research. The main focus of his work is on continuous-variable quantum communication.
@UniFAU
A new method for exploring the nano-world:
A team from @MPI_Light and @MPZ_PhysMed led by Vahid Sandoghdar @SandoghdarLab has been published in Nature Methods with a new method called iNTA that offers a big leap in the characterization of nanoparticles.

We are excited to welcome Stefan Münster @MuensterStefan, who is establishing his @dfg_public Emmy-Noether-Group here in the @Franze_Lab at @UniFAU. Stefan will be investigating the #biophysics of tissues in developing embryos and to apply this knowledge to design 3D #organoids.
Check out our latest work with @masariklab, @jarogumulec, and others about how cancer associated fibroblasts can support tumor progression but don't necessarily need to. Thanks @MPI_Light and @MPZ_PhysMed for supporting this work.
What is the work of a scientist like? 14 participants of #GirlsDay2022 are here today to find out. The students are getting a grand tour of the building, with talks, experiments and tours through our labs. Our scientists and mechanics shed some light on what we do here at MPL.
