🧵Astonished to find this at @Stadt_Marburg bus stop. Work as bus driver: for men bc it is a cool job; for women bc allows to combine job with caring for (12-year old??) kids. Public authorities shouldn’t promote these gender norms. Econ & psych research on #genderequality shows

7/7 Why can men not value a job that leaves them time to be with their kids? Why can women not want a job because it is cool? Maybe we should try to strengthen these norms instead of promoting the existing ones in bus stops

6/7 Change BOTH norms & incentives. Make it easier for fathers to stay home; don’t make women choose between motherhood & career. In 🇪🇪 extending fathers leave promoted gender-equal values https://t.co/CEK0FYVZsz. But fathers leave is not enough. Try to change norms directly
