Bohlale Mphahlele, a South African teenager, invented the "Alerting Earpiece" in 2020 at the age of 16.

The device discreetly takes photos of attackers and sends alerts with the user’s location to emergency contacts and the police when activated.

She won a bronze medal for the invention and continues to develop it further.
