.@OpenGradient, a burgeoning Web3 infrastructure startup, continues to make major strides in its mission to decentralize AI by combining blockchain security with on-chain intelligence. In recent months, the project has rolled out ambitious updates, ranging from its Nova testnet to ecosystem partnerships that underscore its growing relevance in the intersection of AI and decentralized systems.
At the heart of OpenGradient’s innovation is its Nova Testnet, launched in June 2025. This marks a milestone for the platform, which now secures verifiable on-chain AI compute. By embedding inference proofs directly into blockchain blocks, OpenGradient effectively treats computation as a first-class asset. Through its novel architecture, transactions, prediction results, and cryptographic proofs are unified in a single Merkle root, eliminating reliance on opaque off-chain endpoints.
This testnet is powered by what the team calls the Hybrid AI Compute Architecture (HACA), composed of four specialized node roles: Judges (validators), Inference Nodes (GPUs/TPUs), Storage Nodes (“Librarians”), and Data Nodes (“Scouts”). Judges verify proofs, Inference Nodes compute models, Librarians shard and host models, and Scouts provide secure oracle-like data.
Supporting developer adoption, @OpenGradient has released its Python SDK (OG-SDK), which empowers users to upload models, run inferences, and fetch cryptographic proofs via code, all through a familiar Web2-style interface. This SDK abstracts away block-level complexity, making it easier for AI/ML practitioners to plug into a decentralized compute network, and ensures every inference call is provably accurate and auditable.
Complementing the SDK, the project also launched the @OpenGradient Model Hub, a decentralized repository for storing, publishing, and managing AI models on-chain. The hub offers features such as immutable version control, peer-to-peer storage of model weights, and seamless integration with the OpenGradient blockchain for verifiable inference. By offering a Web3-native equivalent to centralized model hubs, OpenGradient aims to democratize access to AI models and make contributions traceable, transparent, and community-governed.
@OpenGradient isn't just focused on technical infrastructure. It is forging real-world partnerships, too. In November 2025, the company announced a collaboration with FSFA Financial Academy, building AI-native financial education and innovation modules. Together, they aim to build curricula around AI agents, on-chain permissioning, and decentralized finance, and even host hackathons and summits to bring together developers, institutions, and financial talent. This partnership signals OpenGradient’s commitment to not only building infrastructure but also cultivating a broader ecosystem in which AI and finance converge.
On the research and tooling front, @OpenGradient continues to evolve its open-source offerings. According to its release notes, it has published tools like MemSync, a memory-layer extension for AI assistants, both as a Chrome extension and a web app, letting agents remember and optimize user context. There’s also BitQuant, a quantitative AI agent framework for algorithmic trading, now open-sourced.
Financially, @OpenGradient remains backed by strong investors. It raised $8.5 million in seed funding through a round led by a16z Crypto (CSX), with strategic support from SV Angel, Coinbase Ventures, Foresight, and angel investors such as Balaji Srinivasan and Sandeep Nailwal. That capital is being channelled into building out its decentralized AI infrastructure, improving its Web3 dev tools, and expanding applied machine-learning research.
