The LAWMA Intervention Team continued its overnight cleanup and waste evacuation exercise across strategic locations in Lagos State, covering Ikeja Along Beside Bridge, FAAN Shopping Complex, National Bus Stop (opposite Conoil, Ikeja), Mangoro Bus Stop, Shonaya, Mangoro Canal, Cement, Dopemu Bus Stop, Pako Bus Stop, Adealu BRT Bus Stop, Araromi Bus Stop, the Iyana Ipaja BRT Lane median, Ile Epo Fence, Oja Oba Bus Stop, and other parts of the state.

The exercise forms part of LAWMA’s sustained efforts to maintain a cleaner, healthier, and more environmentally sustainable Lagos through continuous waste clearance operations across the metropolis.

This morning, our team on routine patrol of Ikeja Along came across an elderly woman whose vehicle had broken down.

Distressed and visibly in a hurry to keep an appointment, she was assisted by the patrol team, who helped fix the vehicle before she continued her journey.

As part of our sustained efforts to eliminate open defecation and improve public sanitation across Lagos State, we currently have 1,710 functioning public toilets strategically located across the state for residents and visitors.

However, government cannot do this alone. We are encouraging businesses such as filling stations, banks, eateries, and other public-facing facilities to make their restrooms accessible to the public where possible. This collaborative approach will significantly complement government efforts and expand access to sanitation facilities across the state.

At the same time, we continue to enforce environmental sanitation laws. Individuals caught engaging in open defecation are being arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law. These measures are necessary to protect public health, preserve dignity, and maintain a cleaner environment for all.

Access to sanitation is a shared responsibility. While government continues to expand infrastructure, residents and businesses must also play their part in ensuring Lagos remains clean, safe, and habitable.

They Didn’t Expect Him. But When He Walked In. The Room Erupted.

Today, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Abuja Chapter.

And the jubilation? Unscripted. Uncontained. Completely real.

These are journalists, people trained to stay neutral, observe, and report. But today, even they couldn’t hide it. The happiness was written all over the room. Because when a leader of this stature chooses to walk into your space, not with protocol and distance but with genuine warmth and openness , you feel the difference immediately.

For years, the Nigeria’s press has reported on policing. The good, the bad, and the painful. They have written the headlines, asked the hard questions, and carried the stories of communities crying out for better.

Today, the man responsible for answering those cries came to them directly. No barriers. No formality. Just a leader who understands that a free press and a professional Police force are not opponents, they are partners in building a better Nigeria.

The room felt that. And they responded with everything they had.

This is what accessible leadership looks like…
