Tune into the @ArtsEdNJ FB page on Wed, 3/31 @ 7pm for a live feature on our very own Winston L, Isabelle M, and Justin S! Winston, Izzy, and Justin were 3 of ONLY 8 students selected for State Finals on 2 different instruments!
Please make sure to watch and support all the band kids that worked their tails off to put this together! Not one ensemble, except for marching band, rehearsed as a full group all year. The result of this product is due to each students commitment and persistence!
So proud of these kids for tackling this season and taking it in stride! There was so much unknown as each rehearsal/performance could have been their last. They deserve this recognition, and despite the pandemic, they kept PUSHing the Valley way! Now on to Nationals!
Had to officially cancel our trip to Disney, and many of the things my students were looking forward to probably won’t happen. I decided to announce our show much earlier than I usually do to give them something to look forward to. Can’t wait to put this on the field!
All set to provide instruction to/from home! Also started teaching my private lessons over @zoom_us! Will be doing that for the foreseeable future. Fingers crossed that ALL my students will have the opportunity to put their hard work on display!
@MsRommelBand @alicekeeler@GoogleForEdu@dmdacosta13 @tyniathomassie Email me if you’d like, I have a template set up I can send your way. I collect practice journals every two weeks and students have to answer guided questions and submit a 10 minute video/audio of them practicing.

very obstacle/dream will require different amounts of time, but there’s no need to wait 365 to overcome them cumulatively. Handle your wins and loses right away so you can flourish more frequently, and spend the end of your year celebrating your growth not mourning your loses...
...it really brings the best out of you, and reminds you that there so much more to teaching when you're teaching music. I will definitely be going back!
and....oh yea....that band can play!!
I'm just now getting an opportunity to digest, and reflect, on the incredible weekend I had at the MSU Conducting Symposium. That statement in itself is the exact reason why I needed a weekend like that.
I am so excited to apply what I've learned about myself and my teaching to current and future students of Wayne Valley. I recommend this event to all conductors/educators, of any experience...
