COUNTRY MUSIC DIDN’T LOSE ITS WAY. NASHVILLE SOLD IT.
The people who built their careers on country music sat back while Nashville slowly turned into Hollywood with cowboy hats.
Now somebody can throw on sneakers, cover himself in face tattoos, sing over a pop beat, and the industry tells us, “Yep, that’s country.”
Give me a damn break.
I miss when George Strait and Alan Jackson didn’t have to explain what country was. You heard three seconds and KNEW.
Country music had an identity.
Nashville traded it for a marketing department.
