@DiegoBTrades All of it works. There was likely an EMA off that low too that worked or some other indicator. Just comes down to having a risk level on the chart that makes sense. Same with the target.
I used to advocate for % stop outs on contracts which I've realized is a load of crap. I was wrong. Technicals should always dictate your stops.
Scalping is sexier than swinging. I promise you will see better gains and less stress buying time and holding your balls.
2nd best month in my journey. 90% Swings 1-2 Days
Biggest Takeaways:
Buy time (min 1 week out)
- Theta is a bitch so try and minimize it
1-2 contracts can pay the bills
Wider stops and less size
Buy ATM or ITM
Exits>Entries
Don't over complicate basic price action
If you find yourself getting stopped out before the big move, ask yourself these 3 questions:
Does my stop out point ACTUALLY invalidate the overall trend or trade?
Am I holding a trade long enough for theta to eat my gains?
Am I in too big relative to the trade being truly wrong?
If you plan on holding an OTM same week expiration day contract for longer than an hour. Good luck. I bet by now you've noticed that even if it does trade in your favor, the gains are never what you want.
Either get ITM or next weeks. Theta is gunning for your emotions.
So, I did exactly what I had talked about and now my account is better than ever.
Widened my stop, sized down, actually hold till target. This has led to a more swing style type of trading.
Swinging isn't as sexy as daytrading but man does it produce really nice gains.
@DavisTrades put it simply:
If you had the right side of the trade and got stopped out, your stop is too tight and you need to size down.
If you had the wrong side of the trade and got stopped on most of your losses, you have bad stock selection.
"that's facts Jack"
I'm not sweating over every little pullback. It feels fantastic. The simplification in my system has been greatly helped by @DavisTrades. Price has moved the same way forever. Stop trying to add unnecessary crap on your screens. That 1 indicator isn't going to change the game.
