As someone who has experienced ride-hailing (Uber/Bolt) as both a driver and a passenger, let me once again explain what is going on here, and help you identify the factor responsible for what you just witnessed in this video.

From a passenger’s perspective, you just don’t realize that what you are paying is not enough for the kind of service Uber or bolt has sold you. Uber or bolt sells Nigerians the idea of comfort, and in some cases, luxury, but what they forget to tell you is you can’t afford it. To be fair to you, the fares are biting your pockets, and you deserve value for money, but it’s deeper than how you see it.

From a driver’s perspective, you just desire to make the most profit out of the system, and rightly so, because you need to cover for the cost of maintenance, which really takes a lot, but you fail to understand that you are dealing with a very poor population and any attempt to increase the fares by Uber/bolt will simply make demand go downhill. Who will book you if the minimum fare is 5K? (Currently, it’s around 2k).

When Uber/Bolt first arrived the market, they were strict about the models and years of qualifying vehicles, but as the economy continued to tank, people who had quality cars had to pull their cars from the road as the business simply became unprofitable. You can’t continue to wear and tear your 10 million naira car for nothing. These platforms were losing drivers at a very fast rate, and decided to mitigate that by lowering entry barriers to the floor - to the point that it became an all comers’ affair. Even 1990s cars started getting accepted on the platforms.

So you have passengers complaining, “oh, the Ubers don’t have AC” “the cars are terrible” “the services are sh#t.” “Drovers are asking for extra money.” Drivers on the other hand, with each visit to Apo mechanic village, Zuba or Ladipo, continue to be discouraged from maintaining their cars, as it’s simply not sustainable. For instance, an AC component, known as the compressor, went from 20k to over 60k within a space of 2 years. Car servicing (changing of oil went from 5k (oil filter inclusive) to 25k for a 4 plug engine within the space of 3 years. In the same period the fares barely increased by 100%.

All the while passenger and drivers have been busy blaming each other, and failing to realize that the ECONOMY is the problem. The platforms themselves don’t really care, because as long you complete a ride, whether you make profit or not, or as a passenger you get the worst service possible, they still earn their commission.

This is why I keep shouting that building anything hoping to exploit loopholes and relaxed regulations for profit doesn’t qualify as building solutions. And I will continue to stand on this. Whenever you people are ready, we will talk about an ECONOMY that works for all, and not just for those at the top of the pyramid.

I intentionally shut up regarding the P-Square issue, because it was never really my problem, and if I had continued people would have accused me of being paid. No one pays for my personal opinions here. So, no point in attracting unnecessary insults and side talks to myself.

P-Square’s family problem is their personal problem. But from the point of view of someone who has managed talents, and like I stated before, artists like Peter are the most difficult to deal with. They are paranoid, possess little knowledge about how digital distribution and splits work, and definitely take advice from people who don't know any better.

A couple of red flags:

1. He’s focus is on digital streams revenue, which is where the least revenue comes from. I don't think he has ever complained about show and endorsement revenue sharing formula, which are the far greater sources of revenue in their line of work.

2. For him to appear at a show they had a contractual obligation to honour and disrupted it for a matter they had plenty of time to handle after the show, tells you everything you need to know.

3. He seems to be cool with sharing with Paul and not Jude, with his reason being that Paul is his twin - because it's definitely not about contributions or sacrifices from each party, as Jude also contributes to their career - I don't know if he realizes that Jude is also his family the same way Paul is (the same mother, the same father), with the only difference being that he and Paul were born on the same day.

As I said before, I'm not really interested in their family dynamics. That's definitely a dysfunctional family you are looking at there. Families are different. I know for sure that money can never come between me and any of my siblings.

Bottom line: one party is over-selling their story, and it’s not hard to tell which one.

In order to understand why Israel is rejecting the plan to disarm Hamas and bring in a new government, you have to look at all the steps it has taken to cultivate Hamas over the years:

1) 1970s–80s: Israeli authorities granted Sheikh Ahmed Yassin permits to expand mosques, clinics, schools and charities in Gaza, the institutional base Hamas grew out of in 1987. Israel funded many of these mosques directly according to Yitzhak Segev, IDF general.

2) Late 1980s: Israel cracked down hard on Fatah and the PLO while largely leaving the Islamists alone, and even helping their organizations control the Islamic University of Gaza, and only outlawed them once they first attacked Israelis in the First Intifada.

3) The 2005 disengagement: Sharon's unilateral withdrawal was executed without coordinating with Abbas, deliberately, since the point was to avoid a negotiated process. Hamas credited it to armed resistance rather than PA diplomacy and it helped them win the elections in 2006.

4) 2006: Israel allowed Hamas to run in the elections for the PA. Fatah asked it to ban them and Sharon refused.

5) 2007: After the Hamas–Fatah split, Israeli policy treated the division as an asset. Gen. Yadlin said Israel would be "happy" with Hamas ruling Gaza rather than the PA.

6) 2012-2019: Netanyahu cements Hamas rule in Gaza. Told Likud members in 2019 that "anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas," and had made similar remarks in 2012.

7) 2015: Israeli intelligence mapped out all the Hamas finances and recommended an operation to disable them. Netanyahu refused.

8) 2018-2023: Israel approved and escorted monthly Qatari payments, roughly $15–30m, partly in cash suitcases) into Gaza and the Mossad made sure Qatar kept it coming.

9) Israeli governments under Netanyahu absorbed rocket fire and incendiary balloons without a decisive response, and expanded Gaza work permits from ~2,000 (2021) to nearly 20,000 (2023) as a stabilization payment.

10) Systematically weakening Abbas: Various steps like refusing to negotiate, building settlements, freezing salaries and payments and various other means strengthened Hamas at the expense of Fatah.

11) 2023-: When Israel invaded Gaza Hamas remained in power. Netanyahu ruled out any PA role — "neither Hamas nor the Palestinian Authority" and has not allowed in any alternative government, not Palestinian and not Israeli and not anyone. Only Hamas.

12) 2023-: Israel has expanded from ~53% of Gaza (Oct 2025) to ~70% (Aug 2026) but has not moved on the remainder, and reportedly isn't planning a new ground operation despite Hamas's non-disarmament. They could go in and remove Hamas but refuse to.

13) 2026: Refuse the offer to disarm Hamas. Despite claiming the entire goal of the "war" in Gaza is to disarm Hamas, the offer to do exactly that is refused.

Does it really seem to you like Israel wants to destroy Hamas? Or is it keeping them weak and in charge to justify more crimes? October 7 was Israel proving unable to keep Hamas on a simmer and it boiled over. But they still use them as a tool to justify their crimes and to prevent a Palestinian leadership that can make peace from emerging.

2. THE NAIRA.

They “floated” the currency.

Beautiful economics.

Except your salary remained on the ground while the cost of imported goods flew.

Same ₦200k salary.

Different purchasing power.

They floated the naira.

Your salary sank.

3. ELECTRICITY.

Petrol became expensive.

So naturally you'd expect electricity to provide relief.

Wrong.

Band A tariffs jumped dramatically.

Generator expensive.

Grid expensive.

Diesel expensive.

Solar expensive.

Where exactly should businesses run?

4. DATA AND CALLS.

Then telecom tariffs were allowed to adjust by up to 50%.

Imagine building a “digital economy” while making digital access more expensive.

Your salary didn't rise 50%.

Your data could.

Welcome to reform.

5. EDUCATION.

Institutional charges increased across various universities.

Then came NELFUND.

Government's answer to increasingly unaffordable education?

DEBT.

Borrow.

Graduate.

Find employment.

Start repayment.

We are gradually normalising young Nigerians beginning adulthood owing money for education.

6. ATM WITHDRAWALS.

Your money.

Your account.

Your card.

But use another bank's ATM?

Charges.

Apparently, even accessing your own money is now an economic activity.

7. CASH WITHDRAWALS.

From 2026, exceed prescribed weekly cash-withdrawal limits and excess-cash charges can apply.

Imagine being charged because you wanted too much of YOUR OWN MONEY in cash.

Read that twice.

8. PASSPORTS.

32-page passport: ₦100,000.

64-page passport: ₦200,000.

Even proving you're Nigerian became more expensive.

Citizenship apparently has a premium package now.

9. IMPORTS.

Devalue the naira.

Imports become costlier in naira.

Raw materials become costlier.

Businesses transfer the costs.

The government doesn't send you the devaluation bill.

Relax.

Your pharmacist, mechanic and supermarket will deliver it.

10. CREDIT.

Then monetary tightening made borrowing brutally expensive.

So the Nigerian entrepreneur gets:

Expensive fuel.

Expensive electricity.

Expensive transportation.

Expensive inputs.

Poorer customers.

Expensive loans.

And somehow we're shocked businesses are struggling.

Here's the part that annoys me:

Every hardship has a sophisticated name.

Fuel increase = reform.

Currency collapse = market liberalisation.

Electricity increase = tariff adjustment.

Expensive borrowing = monetary tightening.

Higher charges = cost recovery.

But when you remove the economic grammar, one reality remains:

THE NIGERIAN IS PAYING MORE TO LIVE.

For three years we've heard:

“Be patient.”

“Necessary sacrifice.”

“Reforms take time.”

“The fundamentals are improving.”

Fine.

Then answer this:

WHEN DOES GOVERNMENT JOIN THE SACRIFICE?

Because Nigerians cannot continuously sacrifice purchasing power, savings, businesses and opportunities while political elites continue operating one of Africa's most expensive governments.

Maybe the reforms are working.

Maybe tomorrow will vindicate everything.

But Nigerians are entitled to ask today:

WORKING FOR WHOM?

Don't tell me Tinubu's best policy.
