I see so many people pressing the panic button because Nara Lokesh met with Hyundai Shipyard.

Tomorrow, even Maharashtra or Odisha can make a pitch.

Even countries like Vietnam can go and pitch.

In a competitive world, everyone has the right to seek investments.

Getting anxious about every single meeting is a waste of time.

No investor decides to 'favour' a particular state.

They invest where it makes business sense.

Discussions are already ongoing between the Tamil Nadu government and Hyundai Shipyard. A document for initial understanding was signed last month.

You need to understand what I say below in the right context.

If Hyundai Shipyard decides it makes sense to set up their shipyard in Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh, what can we do about it? Do we go and plead with Hyundai?

I’m not saying this with even a little bit of arrogance. Our industrial ecosystem is the best in the country. Thoothukudi is considered one of the best places in the country for the shipbuilding industry.

As a state, we can tell investors the best we can offer. We can neither force nor plead with an investor. It is ultimately their choice.

Despite some critical shortcomings in infrastructure, investments are pouring into Tamil Nadu,not out of pity, but because investors see our state as a better option despite our shortcomings.

Krishnagiri district recorded the highest merchandise exports growth rate of 77% despite having no air or rail connectivity.

What we can and should do is continue working to make our state the most attractive investment destination. That’s all that’s in our control.

Reacting to every single meeting by competing states is a sheer waste of time and energy.

Show us the tender for a ₹20,000/sq ft Amaravati building.

The actual CRDA awards tell a different story: Secretariat towers around ₹5,285/sq ft, Assembly around ₹6,850/sq ft, High Court around ₹5,157/sq ft — not ₹20,000/sq ft, and nowhere near the “4x” propaganda.

AP Bhavan Delhi itself is ₹4,237/sq ft excluding GST and PMC. Amaravati numbers are being mixed with GST, ACs, lifts, MEP, interiors, façade, parking and capital-city infrastructure.

And if Assembly and High Court costs went up, first explain who froze Amaravati for five years, let prices rise, contracts lapse and works deteriorate.

Don’t burn the house and then lecture people on the cost of rebuilding it.
