📊 A more of a detailed breakdown of Ronald Araújo.

- First and foremost he is strong in the air. He can be a threat from set-pieces and he defends situations well in his own penalty area as well.

- As I mentioned before his decision making isn’t perfect. There are lapses of concentration in his game. Some of this has been exposed playing in a more open set-up under Hansi Flick. Some of it is more about his positional awareness.

- He is however a decent channel defender. He’s relatively quick and he’s good at coming across to engage opponents.

- In one vs one duels he can be hard to beat. He has a strong frame and he’s very aggressive. Puts in some really strong challenges. That’s not always a positive though. His challenges can be dangerous and he is liable to picking up bookings.

- Where I think he’s quite good is defending his own box. As you can see in his defensive action map below he makes a lot of clearances and is very involved there.

He is known as one of the loudest voices on the pitch.

He is the captain of Barcelona for a reason.

Having that communication on the pitch is key.

From what I’ve heard and read he’s also a really hard trainer. Always puts in 110% effort in training. Off the pitch he watches a lot of football to analyse his opponents as well.

Liverpool have lost a lot of leaders this summer.

Having a character like Araújo in the dressing room could be really important.

🔗 FYI: Liverpool have maintained a clear and firm position throughout the ongoing positive negotiations, with discussions continuing as expected and no intention from the club to entertain unrealistic figures.

PSG, and Nasser Al-Khelaifi in particular, are obviously well aware of the current market, especially after the horrendous fee Real Madrid paid for Yan Diomande, and naturally want to extract every possible penny from the deal.

Liverpool remain calm, confident and firmly in control of their position, with the expectation that once PSG have officially secured their replacement they will move closer to Liverpool’s valuation, while there is no pressure from the Reds to overpay as the player remains fully committed to the move and, even in the unlikely event that an agreement cannot be reached this summer, Liverpool are prepared to return in January.
