Most expensive Premier League squads after transfer window finished. Figures in blue show players out on loan too (eg Man City Grealish, Marmoush etc).
Figures per @valuball
Squad depth is so important, especially after a World Cup year. In that sense alone, I think it’s great we can bring in a name like Vini Jr to keep Christos Tzolis on his toes
I’m gutted about Tielemans.
I’m not arsed about Rogers.
I’ll be fuming if we let Konsa go.
In fact, unless we have a proven replacement, I’ll be fuming if we let anyone else leave.
How can a team finish 4th and win a major trophy, then have their team dismantled.
The rules are bonkers.
Sesko.
Williams.
Rogers.
Mudryk.
Martinez.
Vlahovic.
Szoboszlai.

Common theme throughout his time at Arsenal is Arteta (rightly or wrongly) missing out on his top transfer targets every year.
Meslier feels like another Matt Turner - a huge single point of failure if Raya was to go down injured at any point, especially if Kepa is sold. Support the player as always but can’t find the logic in this one at all.
Market is so inflated with these fees, particularly for wingers. If only we had a promising academy prospect who can play out wide as well as centrally to provide versatility, it would save us millions! If only!
A lot of talk about the ‘gambles’ of signing Barcola, or signing Rodgers only to play him on the wing.
Martinelli scored 1 PL goal last season. Trossard went four months without scoring.
Love them both but the bar for improvement on LW is so low we can afford to gamble.
To put the performance of our frontline into perspective further, Jurrien Timber ended the season with a better G/A total than Martinelli, Havertz, Madueke, and Jesus. He is a right back and played his final game of the season in March.
A bit harsh, but Arteta arguably achieved a premier league title *in spite* of our forward options this year, rather than because of them. Upgrading our forward line this summer wouldn’t be a marginal gain, but a monumental one, and it could be simpler than we think.
🧵
Our front 6 (Saka, Trossard, Havertz, Gyokeres, Jesus, Madueke) achieved a total combined PL G/A of 52. To put this into context, Man City’s front 6 got 99 G/A - this means we won the league with an attack that scored 37 less than our direct rivals.
@LeGrove Love the positivity but this was experience showing from City. Get the game won by half time, star player off early and rested, then pass the opposition to death in the second half to preserve energy. Fatigue will play a part for sure but elite squad management imo
@arsenal_tickets Please RT. These three people all told me they had 2/3 tickets each for the game today, but funnily enough all had the same bank details 😅 avoid at all costs , please RT to make others aware
