Some things that could actually help:
• Mandatory behavioral training with real consequences
• One-tap “unsafe behavior” reporting during rides
• Strict no-contact/no-number-asking policy
• Women-only ride preference options
• Safety prompts before rides
It’s the power imbalance of sitting inches away from a stranger on a moving vehicle with limited ability to react safely.
Platforms should treat this as a systemic safety issue, not isolated incidents.
This isn’t an isolated issue anymore.
A lot of women normalize these experiences because it happens so often during commuting. But the issue isn’t just one creepy rider.
Recently I spoke to 4 female friends who regularly use bike rides like Rapido/Ola/Uber.
Almost all had experienced some form of discomfort or harassment from riders:
unnecessary touching/braking, asking personal questions, asking for numbers, telling them to “hold tight,” etc.

We 7 ppl attended devfest on 12th oct. 5 of us suffered severe stomach ache and vomitings at night, 1 had to rush to hospital st night.
