No time to waste in the wood shop leading up to spring break. Credit for the project idea: https://t.co/mYdFQODbwW Although we added a compartment underneath to avoid marbles bouncing everywhere 😬 #SD40learns
Students in Division 2 have been learning about electronics. We collected a bin of broken items and are exploring. We already fixed our broken light tree! A good example of the ‘messy middle’ and all the curiosity and excitement that goes along with it. @whitesidewolves#sd38
Board game design 101 with a group of grade 6/7’s! Students were really into decorating and playing the games, collaboration and decision making was challenging at times. @whitesidewolves
Students made simple circuits with wire, batteries and a lightbulb. Afterwards they made stop motion videos to present their creations. @whitesidewolves
Today for our final primary and intermediate Zoom math studio sessions, we made mazes out of repurposed materials. What math did we do? Measuring, estimating, visualizing, spatial reasoning.

Making a simple electric motor! Tricky to make it work consistently, S’s shared many interesting observations during this experiment. #sd38learn#whitesidewolves
Adjusting to a new routine, every time coming home from grocery shopping is a process. First washing hands, disinfecting phone then play podcast. Listen while disinfecting each item, this is my favourite podcast not just about covid19 @SYSKPodcast https://t.co/QiqtF6LNbR
I set up a “handing in” zone in the classroom where S’s check themselves off. Some noticeable improvement right away to being plagued with sorting through piles of field trip forms.
Science 5: Beginning an exploration of the human body by examining how a hand works. What do the straws represent? What do the strings represent? What happens when a string is pulled? How does this align with what happens with your hands?
Finding the mass of unknown wrapped objects. Groups enjoyed making the balance from craft materials but S’s had difficulty with the measuring. A fun and accessible science and ADST activity. #sd38learn#whitesidewolves
Exploring open and closed circuits. S’s made a reliably functioning switch! We swapped components to see what conducts electricity, overall it’s very satisfying seeing the bulb light up. #whitesidewolves#sd38learn
