Where is the game won in youth football...midfield
I’ve designed a formation to suit MY players, this might not be right for everyone.
Most teams will probably play a 4-5-1/4-3-3
Let’s Dominate!!!

@CoachJButt Yeah we had that this year. Luckily all apart from 1 of the club officials backed us and they were removed. Don’t need those types of people around and the other parents were very relieved they’d gone.
I repeat: THIS IS THE NORWEGIAN 3rd TIER.
Fantastically well-organised attacking football full of intuition, spontaneity and expression within a collective tactical framework.
Imagine the best players in the world coached in this way.
Brattvåg IL 👏🇳🇴
Chelsea U15s won their PL cup today, U18s and U21s won their leagues as well.
But let's see how many random South Americans we sign in the future instead.
Maldini was so good at left back, most people presumed he was left footed... he could drive with that foot, cross with that foot, pass with that foot and score goals with it. But look more closely and he would primarily ball carry with the right and was actually right-footed.
Over time, my coaching has shifted towards an evolving training methodology — one that integrates Differential Learning with the Constraints-Led Approach.
The focus isn’t on repeating idealised technique, but on designing environments that provoke learning — both intrinsic (from within the player) and extrinsic (through task, space, teammates, and opposition).
⚽ In practice, this means:
• Constant variation in tasks and conditions
• Designing constraints that guide behaviour, not dictate it
• Encouraging players to explore and find individual solutions
• Using unpredictable, game-like scenarios to drive decision-making
• Viewing mistakes as essential to the learning process
By combining these approaches, sessions are built to: → Develop adaptable, creative individuals
→ Enhance collective understanding through shared problem-solving
→ Better reflect the demands and unpredictability of the game
The game isn’t predictable — so why should our training be?
What training methods do you use to facilitate both individual and team development?
Tonda Eckert at Southampton, Michael Skubala at Lincoln … two of the managers of the season … neither had any sort of playing career … both specialised in coaching from a young age. They’re not alone. It’s an interesting trend.
came across this clip again. this is why i’ll always rate flick. putting ego aside, saying “we have to agree” instead of forcing his idea. do you know how rare that is now? and you’ve got kimmich there actually stepping up as a leader. real leadership on both sides.

Incredible insight... this is a video of Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid at half-time in the UEFA Champions League final. They were drawing 0-0 against Dortmund.
Ancelotti wanted change. He allowed his own players to speak regarding the tactics! 🏆👏
