Maybe its because I've been deep in the Graphql world, but apparently Nest Framework is a popular Nodejs option for building rest api's.... Never heard of it.

Typescript is the only development “thing” that I have not been able to fully understand.

That would be sooooo much more informative than “some type whatever cannot be something else.” Expecially when I don’t even know why it’s getting the wrong value. Or even what that value is.
