On hot mic audio he didn't realize was being recorded, Brian Kemp signaled his willingness to bring up a contraception ban in Georgia https://t.co/Ow6KNByQ3I
DeSantis and Zeldin combined for an "I Hate NY" rally yesterday, so let's set the record straight.
Violent Crime (2019)
FL - 378.4 per 100K
NY - 358.6 per 100K
Property Crime
FL - 2,145 per 100K
NY - 1,373 per 100K
Homicide
FL - 5.2 per 100K
NY - 2.9 per 100K
That's a huge cop-out. The fact is, shootings in NYC have been basically flat for 2 years, but mentions of shootings in local news spiked from 100/mo in Jan 2021 to over 800/mo now.
You cannot look at this chart and tell me that didn't influence public perception of safety.
Crazy to take that as a personal affront, or think it's a slam on a movie. "This movie exposed me to new songs, seamlessly tied them into the world of the movie and its presentation… and I resent that! Like Wright's too good for Back in Black?!?!"
@PodcastLikeIts The music in Baby Driver is alienating because it's not top 40???
Is familiarity the primary aspect you judge music on? You don't, like, enjoy it for how it sounds? How it adds to the scene? How it makes you feel (besides the feeling of "Hey, I know this song!")?
Coming at someone exposing you to a song that you aren't familiar with as "rubbing your face in it" is such a weird way to approach art. Wright isn't calling you out at a party with "Oh yeah? Name their first three albums!". He's playing a song he likes, because it fits well.
@PodcastLikeIts Looked up the Beau Travail dance scene and, at least out of context, I don’t think it makes my top 10.
What are your top 10 dance scenes in non-dance movies?

@atpfm Do you have a good checklist of everything to do post migration to a new iPhone? The things left un-done after transferring data? eg re-add credit cards (and vax card) to Apple wallet; Enable Apple Watch unlock; re-install any enterprise apps… #askatp
Every day that goes by without a ban on members of Congress and their spouses owning and trading stocks is another day of Congress jeopardizing the public trust. I’ve got a bipartisan bill to get this done. I’ll keep fighting until we pass a ban. #StopTheTrades
Idris (very conveniently) makes her give voice to her heart's inner-most desires, and makes her admit that it's okay to long for something. Miller puts so many explicit clues in the movie, I'm surprised it didn't get discussed more. https://t.co/rs9jklVPWd
@blankcheckpod Just listened to your 3000 Years of Longing episode. Good movie, good ep. But you dismiss out of hand the idea that Idris is a character in a story that Tilda's telling herself in that hotel room, which seems like it makes all the elements of the film line up.
That all speaks to Idris being an imaginary friend, as Tilda tells herself a story (how she processes feelings), as she's introspective about how she's lonely despite being so successful and content (wishing she wasn't ever let out of the bottle).
