To be also clear, there are no overtly #LBGTQ+ people in Gilead society in The Handmaid’s Tale (1985) because the regime has killed and suppressed them. As has happened and is happening in many times & places.
My goodness, some of you are good at misreading! To be clear: when HandmaidsTale came out in 85, there was disbelief. I thought a religious-right takeover was possible in the US, and was Crazy Margaret. Premature, but unfortunately too close. That doesn’t make me happy.
For Sports Day this year @RamseyAcademy introduced a new student led reporter initiative, where students interviewed competitors & took photos and videos of the various sporting events. Thanks to Mr Walker for setting up this initiative. A full gallery will be available shortly.
Anyone fancy an early copy of ‘Ready to Teach: A Christmas Carol’? Give this a RT and someone will be chosen at random on Thursday! Merry Christmas, everyone! 🎅🏼 #shamelessplug@teachals @JohnCattEd
@MissMeeks14@Team_English1 We tend to do a reiterate question timings, order in which to answer, sentence stems, key skills for each, and writing skills for section B… very chilled, and nothing too fancy, and nothing they haven’t heard before during lessons.
@MissMeeks14 You could pick a few short stories, & form a pop-up book club: get them reading, then pair off and discuss their story / certain images, why they liked, or didn’t like it etc. then at the end, get them to do a quotation explosion on what they deem to be the most powerful phrase?
🎄 *XMAS BOOK GIVEAWAY* 🎄
I’m giving away three pairs of ‘Closing the Reading Gap’ & ‘Closing the Vocabulary Gap’ for Xmas.
Simply RETWEET to have a chance of picking up a pair of signed books.
(Draw on Monday 20th December)
