It was a privilege to share my thoughts at the InterFaith Religious Dialogue organized by Ambassador Fahad Obaid Mohammed Altaffag of the UAE. I am delighted to say that in the good people of the UAE, we have true partners in peace.
This is a perfect example of how you can use a real statistic to create a completely misleading picture.
1.3 million sounds insane until you add the context. There are now 8.4 million people on Universal Credit in total, also a record high. Non UK immigration groups make up around 15.5% of claimants and that share has actually FALLEN over the last year. Nearly 9% of all UC claimants are under the EU Settlement Scheme and another 2.8% have Indefinite Leave to Remain. These are overwhelmingly not people who arrived in Britain last week and immediately started claiming benefits.
Universal Credit also isn’t just an unemployment benefit. Around half of non UK claimants are actually in work. For people under the EU Settlement Scheme specifically 57.4% of those claiming UC are employed.
There absolutely should be restrictions on someone moving here and immediately accessing the welfare state. I don’t think that’s unreasonable at all. But lumping together people who were born here, have lived, worked and paid tax here for years, people with permanent residency, refugees and recent migrants into one scary sounding “1.3 million migrants claiming benefits” headline tells you basically nothing.
The way this is being presented is just missing almost every bit of context you would need to actually understand it.
@AEtinagbedia@DrJoeAbah The fact that you are still hellbent on all these allegations and you never felt remorse for his family who just lost him is appalling. I dont think he deserves this Public Execution he receives which ultimately led to his death???
This is a very misleading tweet, whoever tweeted this should have indicated the set of migrants being referred to.
This is why an average British person is ill-informed about so many things, because of pages like this.
1. A legal migrant has no recourse to public funds. S/he cannot access any form of aid, their children got no free hours in nursery, no benefit of any kind.
2. A legal migrant paid for IHS (health surcharge- to cover them if they have to use the NHS). (can be up to £5,200)
3. A legal migrant paid visa fees (can be up to £1,000)
Now, listen to this part:
3. If the legal migrant is a student, s/he pays between £13,000 and £20,000 as school fees CASH (you can multiply that by the thousands of students so you can know how much influx of money that is).
During their study year, they cannot work more than 20 hours per week, and the only thing they’re excluded from is council tax. It’s sensible because they barely work to pay their rent and other bills.
4. A legal migrant pays rent to their landlords, pay water bill, council tax, electric/gas bill, tax, etc. They’re not excluded from any single thing.
There’s literally nothing a legal migrant enjoys. They contribute same thing like every other citizen and don’t even get anything in return, no recourse to public funds.
Pages like that of the Home Office do not post such info, they don’t do any justice in informing people, that’s why when you engage an average Brit, they just think you’re the problem.
I mean, I’ve got dozens of British friends and when I tell them these things, they’re in shock. They’re not aware of so many things, they also just think EVERY MIGRANT IS THE PROBLEM.
Do I blame them? Not really, because they rely on the media, and the media feeds them with propaganda. For instance, tell me what it’ll take for this post to include “illegal migrants”.
They know what they’re doing. Keep the British populace uninformed.
Christians in Nigeria are being slaughtered for acknowledging the name of Jesus. We cannot turn a blind eye to the suffering of our brothers and sisters of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Make sure to tune in tonight at 6:00PM EST to hear my conservation with @CatholicFQ ⬇️
Let’s be clear about what’s going on in Nigeria: Muslim herders are slaughtering Christian farmers. No one comes to their aid. Congressman Moore has been sounding the alarm for weeks, and the United States is in a position to stop this persecution of Christians. We should.
Our brothers and sisters in Christ are being slaughtered in Nigeria. Just yesterday, another 15 were murdered by the Fulani.
The local pastor warned Nigerian officials ahead of the attack. Instead of protecting Christians, the Nigerian government chose to accuse the pastor of spreading lies.
@officialABAT, enough is enough. You must protect the Christians being slaughtered in your country.
Nigeria is bleeding, not only from the bullets that pierce her soil, but from the silence of those who should speak truth to power. For more than two decades, the Church has watched as blood flowed from Zangon-Kataf to Jos, from Benue to Southern Kaduna, from Maiduguri to Plateau. Thousands of believers have been killed, churches burnt, families displaced, yet the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) continues to issue statements that console but do not confront.
This is not the time for courtesy, it is the time for courage. The Church must rise from consolation to confrontation, from speeches to strategy. Every crisis demands leadership, and moral leadership must evolve into strategic leadership. The Church cannot continue to outsource its protection to a state that has repeatedly failed to defend its citizens. The cry for justice must be louder than the voice of compromise.
Faith without works is dead, and leadership without courage is betrayal. CAN’s role must go beyond writing communiqués and visiting the Villa; it must build structures that preserve life and truth. The time has come to establish a Christian Security and Justice Desk, one that documents every attack, offers legal representation to victims, and pushes for accountability at home and abroad. The Church must lead, not lament.
Archbishop Daniel Okoh and the CAN leadership were not chosen merely to issue condolence letters or attend Iftar dinners. They were called to shepherd the flock through the valley of death. Leadership is not about courtesy to the powerful, it is about courage for the powerless. The Church must stop managing its image and start defending its people. Heaven is not impressed by carefully worded statements that avoid naming perpetrators; Heaven stands with those who dare to confront evil with truth.
Under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the killings have worsened, yet justice remains elusive. The December 2023 massacre in Plateau, where over 200 Christians were slain in one night, stands as a chilling testament to national failure. But silence from the Church only deepens the wound. A compromised voice cannot lead a broken people.
It’s time for CAN to rediscover its prophetic edge. The prophets of old did not negotiate with kings, they confronted them. Elijah faced Ahab, Nathan rebuked David, John the Baptist stood before Herod. Today, the Church must speak not only in prayer meetings but in policymaking rooms. Prayer is power, but policy preserves progress. Every sermon must lead to strategy, and every faith confession must produce action.
Nigeria’s redemption will not come through diplomacy; it will come through divine confrontation, truth spoken with authority and love. The blood of Deborah, the widows of Miango, the orphans of Guma, all cry for leadership, not language.
The time for appeasement is over. The era of polite press statements is past. It is time for faith to fight, for the Church to stand, for righteousness to roar. Silence is no longer holy, it is harmful. #FaithMustFight #ChurchMustRise

🇺🇸🇳🇬 “THE WORLD CANNOT STAND IDLY BY” - U.S. CONGRESSMAN CONDEMNS BOKO HARAM’S LATEST MASSACRE
American lawmaker Riley Moore has denounced Boko Haram’s violent seizure of Kirawa, Nigeria, after militants stormed the town in a brutal overnight offensive that left dozens dead and Christians singled out for attack.
Moore:
“The world cannot stand idly by while violent Islamic extremists rampage through communities.
These acts of barbarism demand immediate international condemnation.”
Kirawa, near the Cameroon border, has seen years of conflict - but this assault marks one of the group’s bloodiest in months, with churches torched, families displaced, and entire neighborhoods emptied overnight.
Moore called on Washington to act against the persecution of Christians and push for a stronger international response, warning that global silence only fuels the next atrocity.
Boko Haram may be local, but its terror still echoes worldwide - and for Kirawa, the world’s outrage may come too late.

It’s time for Christians all over the world to start talking about Nigeria.
More than that, what can we do to stop Muslims from murdering so many Christians there?
There are reports of over 50,000 Christians who have been murdered since 2000, in Nigeria. It’s difficult to know what the real numbers are because the Nigerian government is lying to everybody about them.
