A huge thank you to all families and children for attending our Step Into Year 7 2027 event. It was a pleasure to welcome familiar faces from the IHS community and meet many new families considering their next educational journey with us.
Among the activities on offer, pupils enjoyed creating the famous Elephant's Toothpaste experiment in our Chemistry Lab, producing an impressive eruption of foam while exploring chemical reactions and experiencing hands-on learning.
We hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing you again soon. #StepIntoYear7 #IHSCommunity #STEMEducation #ChemistryInAction #FutureScientists
IHS Year 6 pupil, Rasmus, recently took part in the Year 7 and Year 8 Junior Mathematical Challenge and has been awarded a Gold Certificate! This is a remarkable accomplishment, particularly as he completed the paper a year early. Gold Certificates are typically awarded to the top 8% of participants nationally.
Well done Rasmus; we are all very proud of you.
#TBT to when His Majesty King Charles III, then The Prince of Wales, visited Jimmyβs Farm with our pupils. Here he is with some of our Prep School children. Does anyone remember the year?

It has been such a pleasure to have hosted pupils and staff from The International School of Jakarta for the last week. I am so grateful to the IHS buddies who made them feel so welcome and to Mrs Eileen Fisher, the Director of ISJ for arranging this visit as part of our ongoing school to school partnership. The ISJ pupils were a credit to their school and we feel are proud to say that they are now part of our IHS family.Β

#TBT to how it all began under the Headship of Miss Youngman in 1878. By the time Sophie Youngman retired in 1899, the school had become a thriving and respected institution, shaping bright and pioneering young women. In 2019, a blue plaque was unveiled in her honour at the site of the Assembly Rooms.
We introduced a new initiative in the Orwell Kitchen last week; 'Love it or dislike it'. Pupils were given the opportunity to sample new menu ideas and then vote for which they 'loved, liked or disliked' but putting tokens in boxes.
This means we can make informed choices about adding new menu items, and this initiative will regularly run at lunchtimes. The score for the first sample menu was 208 'loved it' and 11 'disliked it' with the trial dish today being Korean BBQ Pulled Pork.
With thanks to Nick (Catering Manager) and Sarah (Head Chef), and the Wilson Vale team for this new initiative that will run every other week. #IpswichHighSchool #SchoolLife #StudentVoice

Well done to everyone involved in the Year 4β6 Swim Champs this afternoon ππΌ It was fantastic to see you all competing and supporting one another. A big thank you to Mrs C and Mrs P for their organisation, and to everyone who helped time and run the event.
πSports scholars 1
On Monday, our senior school sports scholars hosted an athletics event that they have been preparing in their enrichments last term.
It was lovely to see many siblings being able to work together and pupils who have been through our prep school giving back to the younger pupils.
πSports scholars 2
Our sports scholars also ran a 5/6 athletics afternoon for our pupils and Finborough. They have spent their scholars sessions learning about leadership and working with young people and were able to implement these skills into running a very successful event. An amazing afternoon had by all.
πEquestrian
We continue to be incredibly proud of Charlotte who recently competed at Nationals and came 3rd out of 185 in the Show Jumping 70cm and 3rd out of 26 and 7th out of 36 in the Dressage.
