@luke_chapman94 It’s a good point. I have no difficulty welcoming trans men into so called men’s spaces but the sooner we all move to unisex provision with individual cubicles the sooner the adults can be back in charge. This trans panic is ridiculous.
@RichardC97070@luke_chapman94 Trans people are not “transvestites” & trans people are not “dressing up for fun”. As a result you don’t have an argument at all.
@nebboneheim@SusanFairweathe@speakoutsister Women do not always have xx chromosomes. There are lots of variations and there are certainly women who were declared female at birth (so not trans) who have xy chromosomes. Human biology is not simplistic and there is no such thing as “normal”.
@speakoutsister Wasn’t one of the goals of feminism to ensure that women were equal in society? Unisex secure fitting rooms seem very consistent with that. After all, surely women wouldn’t want to be seen as special as well as equal?
@Maud1918@Plundermot@speakoutsister There is at least 1.7% of the population who are intersex and don’t fit either box fully. If you have one testicle and one ovary we are definitely in self definition territory.
@Maud1918@Plundermot@speakoutsister So, it’s a combination of things: not just one thing. It’s not possible to stuff all humanity into two little boxes marked male and female.
@upthecliff@speakoutsister Trans people are not “expressing a preference”. There ‘may’ be two sexes in law, but cold biological reality says there are people who don’t fit in these two narrow little boxes. As they are indeed people & citizens with human rights then ignoring their needs is not an option.
@WorldWearyWoman@speakoutsister@ramendik Imagine if there was instant chromosome testing; will all the xy females ritually chuck themselves out of the women club?! Yes, nobody will be able to accurately measure “biological sex”; this guidance was written by someone who doesn’t understand how complex biological sex is.
@NicciHowe@YourAlienMaste1@jondrytay Unfortunately the social media hive mind is dreadfully under educated and doesn’t understand that intersex people exist.
@YourAlienMaste1@jondrytay Trans people are also “scientific fact” provided that your understanding of biology advanced beyond high school. The only answer to this is unisex cubicle toilets for everyone.
@Christi62736312@jondrytay A trans man can have any sexuality, just like everyone else; you know, straight, gay, bi, pan etc. I don’t see how sexuality is relevant to toilet facilities.
@judithmmoore2@SexMattersOrg@HJoyceGender@DailyMailUK There are lots of variations (not abnormalities) and you cannot stuff all humans into two little boxes. I wonder if all the people talking about “chromosomal sex” have actually had themselves tested or whether they just made an assumption.
