@johnnyman_money@OccamsBraiser@JoelLoren1 Well, I’ve had more than 300 students over the years that may disagree with you since many of them still reach out to me for clarification on high school concepts that they can’t understand from their native speakers teachers.
@johnnyman_money@OccamsBraiser@JoelLoren1 Don’t change my words, I said a linguistic (person who study a language) knows more about grammar rules than the average graduate native speaker. I said before, this apply to every language. An American that study French knows more about French than the average French native spea
@johnnyman_money@OccamsBraiser@JoelLoren1 Well, I’ve worked in 2 districts, 3 schools and with 4 different principals and all of them praise my achievements in STAAR test (standardized test in Texas in case you are not familiar with it) that are well above state average despite being in low performance schools.
@johnnyman_money@OccamsBraiser@JoelLoren1 You weren’t implying I teach English. So assuming your question was legit, teaching is much more than sounding words and bilingual teachers who are linguistics know much more about English grammar rules than the average graduate native speaker (you can apply this to any language)
@Stevendiana6969@lynnsdavenport@CowtownCaller@DallasExpress I am from Spain and I came in an exchange program between the US and Spain, Spanish teachers come to the US to teach Spanish while American teachers go over there to teach English. I only see a win-win
@redorgreen17 @ConnieCaston @amandalouise416 I can see you are not familiar with Houston isd. Take a look at their pay scale, teacher apprentice (no experience and non certified) make 68k sped teacher with 5+ years make 92k (page 13 of the document) https://t.co/esbyy35k3H
@redorgreen17 @ConnieCaston @amandalouise416 Parents and students disrespect was/is/will be a problem in education and it’s a reflection of society. It’s a problem in the US and most parts of the world. The same way waitresses deal with customers teachers have to deal with parents and students
@ConnieCaston @amandalouise416 and if i talk about my personal case, I am here teacher Spanish and American teachers are in my home country (Spain) teaching English 2/2
@ConnieCaston @amandalouise416 if you had done some research about it you would see that those visas are only for high demand positions such as bilingual ed, sped or STEM. if you keep looking you may find that HISD has 20% of uncertified teachers due to teacher shortage 1/2
@casa_roberts_tx@lynnsdavenport@CowtownCaller@DallasExpress That’s simply false, all teachers are paid according to district pay scale. If they get an stipend, both bilingual and sped teachers get it in many districts, it’s because they are in high demand, any American can get certified and get the stipend
@lynnsdavenport@CowtownCaller@DallasExpress . Not because a teacher is layoff in district A means that will be able to take a bilingual position in DISD or other district (same happens with STEM subjects at high school level) 2/2
