@beardedjourno If "Whatever anyone says, I will never be convinced ..." it must make it difficult to consider the presentation of other facts and figures.
@WeirdBristol Until fairly recently, the plaque in the cathedral commemorating it only had 3 names on it - all men: the bishop, the precentor (whatever that is) and the dean. The current bishop has replaced it with one with the 32's names on.
@WeirdBristol It was supposed to be simultaneous with a service at Canterbury but they had broadcasting issues so Bishop Barry in Bristol (oh, the alliteration) just went ahead here.
@beardedjourno And all those millions spent, and all that concrete laid (with how much CO2 emitted?) just to save the access road to that small industrial estate at Ashton Vale having to close for 30s every quarter of an hour.
@beardedjourno Certainly does. I've had two spokes break on different occasions on the Henleaze Red roundabout in the last year. Can't blame the Council; so much of their grant from Govt. has been cut, and Adult Social Care and Education are actually more important.
@lukejerram Thank them politely for their award to you, but simply tell them you're not prepared to pay ยฃ200 for something they want to give you.
(As I typed that, I thought it's a bit like sending someone a present but with no stamps on so they have to pay postage due.)
@AmandaChadburn@KymriskaDraken@WeirdBristol Apparently boats (of some size) could make it all the way up the Trym to Westbury until a landslip in 1089 (where?) reduced the flow.
@carlafrancome 2/2 Drink driving started falling when prosecutions ramped up in the 80s. Now seen largely as totally unacceptable. Same needs to happen with "dooring" if we're to stop it.
@carlafrancome I was "doored" in a similar way. Night in hospital with a brain bleed (yes, I was wearing a helmet), still have the scar on my arm. Police loathe to follow it up - they seemed to think it was "just one of those things". 1/2
@martr101@AudreySuzanne@bristolgreen "Underground fantasy"? Then simply explain how routes in along Glos Rd and Church Rd above ground would work? Why not challenge the figure of ยฃ18bn that some have suggested; that's the entire cost of the Elizabeth Line which is far more extensive.
@GulfAir I won't, thank you. Because F1, plus your offer to fly people out to watch it, made at the same time as COP28, is as insensitive as it is climate-destroying. You should be ashamed.
@Locallearning Not linked to Speedwell, but is there a chance that a late 60's/70's map could be added to KyP? So much has changed between post WW2 and current, something in between would be a real asset.
@Locallearning Argyle Hall were joined by Morley Cong. Church and are now Argyle Morley United Reformed church (snappy, eh?) but are thriving (and have some of the best biscuits after the service!)
