OK LBUSD when do we do the right thing and follow suit? Sad that someone else had to lead the way for us but now that LAUSD has stepped up to protect children and staff it is our turn. You want us to be proud of our district let’s do the right thing. #lbusd#ProudtobeLBUSD
I’ve noticed a sad trend when talking to my friends who are teachers. At some point in the conversation as we catch up after the summer almost all of them offer up the amount of time left until retirement, unprompted. I spoke to 7 teacher friends last night and 5 of them
offered up the time left as if they were convicts counting down a sentence. Most of them are healthy enough and vibrant people. All of them offered up end dates that were at least 5 years shorter than you would imagine. These are great teachers who genuinely care about their
In the middle of day one for my second AP Capstone training event this summer. Best part of the job is learning from professional educators from all over the world. Every APSI I take away ideas for how to improve. #collaboration#APCapstone
I genuinely wonder if administration or district leaders care at all about the number of their teachers that are actively discussing leaving the district at this time? I know they are clueless but if they knew, would they care?

and home, the lack of tech support, reliable connections, and faith in the system to support me and the students has me reconsidering my choices. Are any of you in a similar situation or is it just me? #proudtobelbusd
As the school year approached @LBSchools demanded teachers return to campus because the tech support and internet would be more reliable on campus. I have been on campus for three weeks and I have not had a single day so far where the internet didn’t cut out 1/
entirely, or Zoom was disconnected, or I have not had some interruption of service. Oddly all of my colleagues who chose to work from home have reported almost no interruption of service. While I chose to work from school because I wanted the structure and separation of work 2/
@FHSAPUSHER So it’s a system issue not just me? The weird part is that my personal Drive account is working but not my school account. Good thing my district told me to work from school where the internet would be more reliable.
@VirtualGiff Let’s normalize working the hours we are paid to work. Very few industries normalize the self abusive behavior that we engage in as teachers. Yes, our students are important and yes they deserve our best efforts during our scheduled time but we all need better boundaries.
Administrators, please take a couple of extra moments to review your communications to teachers before you send. Ask yourself, have you provided as much clarity as possible for your intended audience? Think through points of possible misunderstanding BEFORE hitting send.
@lareux24@BrianMendler Well Larry if the stated goal was to avoid transferring a life altering disease then yes those precautions would be warranted. I asked for a cogent argument as to why not be as cautious with lives of students and you presented me with another example to support my argument.
