I wish Andy Burnham every success as Prime Minister. But it is my job to hold him to account.
Every announcement he makes should be properly funded. We cannot borrow more money and the tax burden is already too high, so the only answer is spending cuts.
I will work with him in the national interest to find savings from the benefits bill. If we reach agreement, my Conservative MPs will vote for those cuts in Parliament. That's the way to get Britain working.
1. Transfer the tens of billions earmarked for net zero to defence and supply chain resilience, to create a major industrial/defence sector, thereby creating skilled jobs in UK, rather than China (as net zero does)
2. Radical tough love welfare reform to get 1m people of working age into work, thereby cutting the welfare bill and increasing the tax base. Coupled with massive expansion of German-class STEM skill apprenticeships.
3. Radical reform of planning laws to stop nimbys/greens from thwarting every major infrastructure development. Put judges/courts in their place when it comes to such matters.
4. Put rocket boosters under high-speed rail link between Leeds-Manchester-Liverpool. Brook no opposition/delay.
5. Unleash North Sea oil/gas + slash energy bills by removing all green levies. New breed of gas-fired and smaller nuke generating stations.
Much more to suggest. But this should be good for starters.
I’m not against the idea of convicted criminals taking roles in the cabinet, but they must have demonstrated they have provably changed.
The issue for Louise Haigh is that she wasn’t honest about her criminality, and it only came to light after she was made a minister in 2024.
Mark Zuckerberg, an outspoken critic of "man-made climate change", shows off his new $300,000,000, 287-foot mega yacht, powered by four gigantic diesel engines.
Yet another stark reminder that Net Zero is only for the peasants
Never forget what Starmer (and Reeves) have done...
All the "red" represents tens of thousands of lives ruined, thousands of businesses closed, and more debt for our children.
And it was all so avoidable.
Just got to love nationalised #railways. North #Kent line. 1810 from #Victoria just ‘cancelled’.
No explanation as to why, staff offering no information.
The gallic shrug of old days #BritishRail is back. No one cares, nobody is responsible. Everyone gets paid except the fare paying traveller who is trying to get to work & get home.
We're told to be grateful for what we're given. Welcome to #socialist #Britain. Back to the 1970s. @Se_Railway
“Consumers don't produce inflation. Producers don't produce inflation. Inflation is produced only by too much government spending and too much government creation of money, and nothing else.”
— Milton Friedman
Side note.
To the Labour MPs who shout “Liz Truss” whenever the economy is discussed, should note that the UK 10yr bond yield under Truss peaked at 4.7%
This morning, because of Reeves’ and Starmer’s ineptitude the 10yr bond yield is 5.02%
Labour crashed the economy.
I've created a Zack Polanski CV generator which refreshes each time it's opened - so every time you see it there's new roles that Zack's worked in

The Prime Minister appointed Peter Mandelson before the vetting had been completed, vetting Mandelson failed.
Starmer then said full due process was followed. THAT is misleading Parliament.
I'm only holding him to the same standards to which he’s held previous Prime Ministers - that if they mislead parliament, they should resign.
In these dangerous times, Britain cannot afford to have a Prime Minister who the country doesn't trust. Starmer has betrayed our national security. He should go.
The current state of the Royal Navy:
2 aircraft carriers — neither operational.
6 Type 45 destroyers (our most powerful warships) — one operational (in Cyprus).
7 Type 23 frigates (less powerful, much older) — three operational
5 Astute class nuke-powered subs — one operational (in Arabian Sea?).
Surely those responsible for this appalling state of unreadiness (a national embarrassment if ever there was one)— political, civilian and military — should be fired/charged.
Their incompetence has effectively left us without a navy.
Quite an achievement for an ancient island nation.
