Young female students thinking that weight training will make them ‘bulky’ and gain weight
Explain how calorie surplus/deficits work, and help them understand that the low levels of testosterone in their bodies will make it very difficult to gain large amounts of muscle mass
@Headteacherchat No more tie and blazer.
Smart shoes, smart trousers/skirt, smart Polo and jumper. Or a button up shirt.
Uniform is an enormous financial burden on families who are already being stretched to breaking point with the cost of living crisis.
‘I’ll continue to work closely with unions’
It took strikes just to bring you to the table!
14/03 - you wrote to parents vilifying us for strike action:
‘I am extremely disappointed that many young people will once again miss invaluable time learning with their teachers’
Liar
I'll continue to work closely with unions on issues that matter to teachers, including through our Workload Reduction Taskforce to explore how we can go further to support school and trust leaders with workloads.
This will put an end to disruption for parents and pupils.

Voted to accept the offer as it is the best that we will get and a step in the right direction, but frankly it is a plaster over a stab wound
Major reform required for workload, behaviour and parents to resolve the retention and recruitment crisis in Education.
86% of @NEUnion's teacher members in England on a turnout of 60%, have voted to accept the progress made on pay and funding, and end industrial action. #PayUpNow#SaveOurSchools

Notwithstanding, I’m still baffled as to why students have to wear tie and jacket?
This isn’t the norm for a lot of offices, and presents a massive financial burden for families
Smart polo, trousers. smart shoes and a V-Neck?
Also, PE Kit on PE days!! So much time saved!
I see the uniform chat has reared it’s head again
I was chuffed to see that my school only requires the rucksack, tie, blazer and PE T-Shirt to be branded, l all other items can be purchased from cheaper retailers, from what I’ve seen this is similar across a lot of schools

Year 11 Examination Class

ECT2 - Romeo done.
A 10 year old girl called phone in hosted by John McEnroe last night asking for advice on how to improve as she was a national "champion". He said, play lots of other sports, not too much tennis, have fun doing other sports, and have fun in general, not just play tennis. Oh yes
@peclassroom Having a crack at all sports Golf tomorrow.
Students get a kit bag that includes Cricket bat and ball/tennis racket and ball/Football/Rugby ball/Lacrosse Stick and ball and an American Football.
Can use each piece of equipment once on a hole, normal golf scoring system
After today’s lesson, I could write a comedy sketch on a teacher explaining the scoring system in Tennis to a group of Year 7’s.
Me: What’s 40-40 called?
Students: Silence
Me: Deuce
Student: Juice?
Me: No, Deuce
Student: Doos?
Me: No, Deuce

More evidence that Uniforms in schools need a serious shake up.
No need for boys to be wearing trousers in this heat.
Moreover I see no reason why students should wear blazers and ties. Why can’t they wear smart Polo’s? Or short sleeve shirts.
The financial burden is crazy
The advert for the Women’s Ashes that Sky Sports just ran is a perfect example/summary of the effects of Commercialisation on Sport.
Everything from pressure, spectators, grassroots growth to camera angles and money.

Cannot believe the amount of videos from lessons on Twitter I’ve seen where more students are queuing than participating.
Honestly think it’s terrible practice, has to be my biggest bugbear.
Online platforms for my ECT training has extremely little use and has become nothing more than an admin task.
Ofsted blaming ECT’s for their shortcomings is frankly typical.
I find this wording in Ofsted's professional development report fascinating. In response to ECTs telling them the approach is repetitive, they blame the ECTs.
