So @danakwatson is making a cape, and I thought I knew what that was, but apparently this one is some kind of wooden vest?
The dog and I had about the same reaction to this news…
@danakwatson There is either a brutal hand-to-hand fight scene in a very confined space or a magical shop that sells enchanted curios from another realm or existence behind that door.
Either way, you step through, you’re going to have an EXPERIENCE…
@WilsonCattle @hypomodern Likely, but local officials not responding to medium/long-term national interest (or even policy). They're making decisions against short-run incentives.
Not suggesting "best" course, just noting observed incentives in revealed preferences of political elites to minimize cases.
@hypomodern Unlike in the West, Chinese officials are punished for high case rates but not for poor economic results. This is how their incentives align.
Ask a panel of economists and epidemiologists if that’s the right way to go, but not surprising…
@hypomodern Bullshit. Any commander who organized this kind of half-assed, underweight area fire against an entrenched position in 1915 would have been relieved of command by sundown.
@danakwatson@BoleynBooks If you really plan to make a go of it, learn to judge temperature by color, not by infrared thermometer. Then learn your tempering tables for basic carbon steel (because you ain’t making stainless).
@hypomodern Definitely. I was really just trying to dig into how likely you believed UKR forces were to be able to maintain momentum in the face of stiffening Russian defensive posture.
My money is on slowing success and then stalemate, but they’ve surprised so far!
