I can't think of a better possible way to suggest to people that your primary concern is controlling women, rather than preserving unborn life, than making this a critical distinction.
I just want folks to pause and think about the message this sends to children who are alive today, in foster care, about their lives and value. Don't tell me you care for the outcast, those without privilege, the vulnerable, and then tweet something like this.
“I don’t understand x” is a rhetorical device to indicate how crazy or bizarre x is, but it often just functions as a self own.
I, like most people, can understand many positions I disagree with, even ones I do so passionately.
@JenandZen Reminds me of every claim that higher cancer rates are linked to (insert feature of modern life here). We experience cancer more frequently because we're living longer!!! Also, we have better definitions/detection/record-keeping for cancer in the modern age.
The presumption of innocence is real and important. It cannot be invoked selectively only for certain crimes. If you reject it for one, you reject it for all.
