@TheSnowDreamer now back in RH16, the intensity and accumulations actually reduced heading north (opposite to usual). Maybe about 1/2cm here on cars only - currently light snow grains. Perhaps more to come this evening and tonight.
@TheSnowDreamer Met Office and BBC should be absolutely ASHAMED of themselves for their lunchtime forecast- some light rain along the south coast spending about 10 seconds on this evening. But you were spot on. Snowing in Brighton for the last two hours now.
@TheSnowDreamer From the aviation side: Gatwick Terminal Area Forecast at 22:55 tonight going with light snow from noon till 2am, heavier between 14:00 and 22:00.
@EngineerLondon@Neil_Hardiman@gareththomas101 Just reading up on it here... Having grown up and moved out of the area some time ago, some strange goings-on are now perfectly explained.

@EngineerLondon hi James - here’s a tower in SW Belfast. What’s going on with the lower left insulator? The towers either side have six normal hanging ones… does this serve a purpose? Think it dates from the 60s…
@Neil_Hardiman@EngineerLondon@gareththomas101 Yep it will be between that one and the original I posted then. Looks like the whole circuit is soon to be decommisioned after stumbling on other documents... it dates from 1943! May already have been de-electrified.
@Neil_Hardiman@EngineerLondon@gareththomas101 isnt twitter amazing! yes this exactly that tower stretch. its a very residential area but nothing 'obvious' that would violate. certainly there are other stretches that are also very close (vertically) to houses. i'll take a closer look....

Here’s the pin guys- maybe something to do with crossing the M1? I’ll get some close ups next time I’m in the area… the tower may even predate the motorway.
@TLRailUK@SouthernRailUK hell of a service gap here - can’t we get some of the Southern expresses to please stop in place of these cancelled trains? They have the time allowance and paths to do so….
@SouthernRailUK Hi SR has the suspected landslip been rectified or is there running with a speed restriction? I’m travelling later and don’t want to end up marooned if the up line is closed again later. Thx
@SouthernRailUK Sure, it was 1Z90 2335 Gatwick to Brighton. Driver and platform staff were understandably fuming when there was no one there to take advantage after the station was evacuated.
@SouthernRailUK Hi Emily I got home on one of the secret extra southern trains from gatwick to Brighton - unfortunately as your staff had closed the station only 4 people were onboard!
